SABAO LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN IN KANSENGO, CALLS FOR PEACEFUL POLITICS AND CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT IN CHIKANKATA
June 1, 2026
Kansengo, Chikankata
District – Jacqueline Sabao today officially launched her re-election campaign in Kansengo, calling on residents to embrace peaceful politics and remain focused on development rather than misinformation.
Addressing a large gathering of supporters, traditional leaders, and party officials, Ms. Sabao urged the people of Chikankata to conduct campaigns in a peaceful and respectful manner, emphasizing that elections should unite communities rather than divide them.
She challenged those spreading what she described as falsehoods and propaganda against her leadership to reflect on their intentions, stating that her objective remains to continue the development agenda she began when she was elected in 2021.
"My mission is simple: to continue and complete the projects we started together. The people of Chikankata can see the development that has been delivered, while other projects are still ongoing and require continuity for them to be completed successfully," she said.
Ms. Sabao noted that since assuming office, her leadership has brought visible improvements across the constituency, adding that residents should appreciate the progress made over the past five years.
Meanwhile, Chikankata District Chairperson David Katowa togather with his vice Mr. Ian Namakala praised the MP's leadership, saying the transformation witnessed in the constituency speaks for itself.
Mr. Katowa stated that many residents have benefited from development projects facilitated through government programs and represented by Ms. Sabao in Parliament.
"Chikankata was not like this before.
Development has become visible because we have a leader who has consistently spoken for the people and worked closely with the government to bring projects to the constituency," he said.
He further questioned the promises being made by political opponents, arguing that development is already underway and that residents should safeguard the progress achieved.
Mr. Katowa said it would be difficult for others to claim ownership of development initiatives already established, adding that voters should carefully evaluate competing promises.
The district chairperson also commended party members who were not adopted as candidates but chose to remain loyal to the UPND and support Ms. Sabao's campaign.
According to Mr. Katowa, such individuals have demonstrated commitment to party unity and the broader goal of ensuring continued development in Chikankata.
He cautioned residents against being misled by independent candidates and political opportunists, claiming that some individuals were being used for personal political interests rather than the welfare of the constituency.
Mr. Katowa warned that electing leaders without a clear development agenda could slow down progress and negatively affect ongoing projects.
Several headmen who attended the campaign launch also expressed support for Ms. Sabao, citing visible improvements in their communities.
The traditional leaders stated that they had witnessed significant development during her tenure and pledged to continue supporting her leadership.
Some headmen noted that many residents were seeing certain forms of development for the first time in years and praised Ms. Sabao's commitment to addressing community needs.
They further observed that women leaders often understand the challenges faced by families and children at community level, a factor they said has contributed to her strong connection with the people of Chikankata.
As the campaign season begins, Ms. Sabao's message centered on peace, unity, and continuity of development, themes that are expected to dominate political discussions across the constituency in the months ahead.
