ASM Urges Warrant Officers to Uphold Core Values

Army Sergeant Major, Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Monday Nonde has embarked on a nationwide tour of all Zambia Army Units and Formations to address Warrant Officers on key matters aimed at enhancing professionalism among Soldiers, and issues surrounding their welfare.

The tour is also focusing on military, marital and financial discipline, as well as professionalism.

WOI Nonde's first stop was 5 Infantry Battalion, where he was welcomed by Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) WOI Titus Mwangu.

During the meeting with Warrant Officers, Mr Nonde emphasised the importance of maintaining military bearing, discipline and professionalism among Warrant Officers.

He called for exemplary leadership, stressing that everyone is expected to uphold the Zambia Army's core values.

"The Army Commander's vision is clear; Soldiers must uphold our core values and maintain the highest standards of discipline," WOI Nonde said.

He assured the Warrant Officers that Command remains committed to improving Soldiers’ welfare and urged them to remain loyal to the government of the day and the people of Zambia.

Mr Nonde also reminded the Warrant Officers of their crucial role in ensuring that the rank and file of the Zambia Army work effectively with other defence and security services.

Following his address, the Army Sergeant Major and his team later toured the military cantonment.

Others on his delegation include Army Headquarters Garrison Sergeant Major, WOI Joel Chifunga, 2 Infantry Brigade Sergeant Major, WOI Joseph Patson Banda, and Ministry of Defence Chief Clerk, WOI Justine Kabwe.

Tanzania Thanks Zambia Army for Kiswahili Language Programme Support

United Republic of Tanzania High Commissioner to Zambia, Lieutenant General Mathew Edward Mkingule, has expressed gratitude to the Zambia Army for supporting the Kiswahili (Swahili) language programme offered by the University of Dar es Salaam and University of Zambia.

During a courtesy call on Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff, Major General Luswepo Sinyinza, Lt Gen Mkingule highlighted the programmes progress, with over 30 participants in 2024.

However, he emphasised the need for increased support from the Zambia Army through the appointment of more Officers and Soldiers to enroll in the course.

Lt Gen Mkingule noted that Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania had previously signed a memorandum of understanding to teach Kiswahili both academically and as proficiency.

The High Commissioner requested the Zambia Army Command to appoint participants for the programme at both ordinary and executive levels, highlighting its flexibility with online and physical classes conducted after working hours.

And Maj Gen Sinyinza stated that the Zambia Army was already offering Swahili language at Army School of Education and is open to further engagements to improve the programme and strengthen relations between the two countries.

'BE DISCIPLINED AND LOVE YOUR COUNTRY'

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has urged new Drug Enforcement Commission ( DEC) officers to serve the nation with pride and courage.

The Minister urged the officers to uphold the law with honour.

Mr Mwiimbu was speaking during the 2025 Pass out parade of 177 Drug Enforcement Commission officers held at the Zambia Police Training College in Lilayi in Lusaka.

The Pass out was held under the them " Trained to serve with integrity"

" Drug - related and money laundering crimes pose some of the gravest threats to our communities.

" These vices poison our youth, destabilize families and undermine national security," he said.

He urged the officers to be professional in their work.

" The uniform you wear is not just a symbol of authority, it is a badge of honour, responsibility and integrity.

" Your actions in the field , your decisions under pressure and your conduct both on and off duty must inspire and instill public trust in our institutions," he said.

He also commended the DEC command for prioritizing training for officers.

And Drug Enforcement Director General Nason Banda thanked government for the continued support.

He also thanked various including the Zambia Police Service for the support.

"To the graduating officers, as you step forward, remember that this parade is not an end but a beginning. Carry forward the values of discipline, integrity and courage have been instilled in you. The nation looks to you with hope and pride," he said.

Zambia Correctional Service ( ZCS) Commissioner General Mr Fredrick S.S Chilukutu was represented by Senior Assistant Commissioner Chembo Mpongwe Mporokoso.

Home Affairs and Internal Security, Minister JACK MWIIMBU has urged law enforcement officers to uphold integrity and maintain confidentiality in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. MWIIMBU was speaking during the 2025 Drug Enforcement Commission pass-out parade at Lilayi Police Training College in Lusaka, where 177 officers were officially commissioned.

New Special Forces' Operators Inducted into the Elite Corps

The grounds of the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) in Mbala district were yesterday , 02 May, 2025, filled to capacity as a new cohort of elite operators was formally being inducted into the ranks of Zambia Army Special Forces Corps.

The induction parade of intake 10/2024 of special forces trainees, a symbolic culmination of arduous training, was graced by the Minister of Defence, Honourable Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma.

Upon arrival, Mr Lufuma was accorded a quarter guard mounted by the special forces operators at the Training School.

The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as the Minister, flanked by Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele and 3 Special Forces Group Commander, Brigadier General Charles Swana, took his place on the saluting dias.

Parade Commander, Major Rodger Mwewa Kalale, then commanded the parade to present arms for a general salute as the resonant strains of the national anthem played by 3 Infantry Battalion's Brass Band filled the air. Every uniformed member present stood in respectful salute, an honour befitting the Reviewing Officer.

The solemnity of the occasion deepened as Lieutenant Colonel Sydney Mwewa, the Director of Programmes and Zambia Army Director of Public Relations, invited Brigadier General (Reverend) Shadreck Mwale, the Director General of Religious and Moral Services Branch, to open the ceremony with a Word of prayer.

Before commencing, Brigadier General Mwale requested a moment of silent reflection in honour of the three fallen trainees who had tragically lost their lives during the demanding training period.

This poignant moment served as a stark reminder of the sacrifices inherent in the pursuit of excellence within the Special Forces.

Lt Gen Zyeele Witnesses Marine Demonstrations Ahead of Special Forces Induction Parade

Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele is in Mbala where he is overseeing final preparations for the induction parade of Special Forces trainees scheduled for tomorrow, 02 May, 2025.

Prior to the highly anticipated parade at the Special Forces Training School, Lt Gen Zyeele, accompanied by some Heads of Branches from Army Headquarters, travelled to Mpulungu district to witness a series of rigorous watermanship demonstrations conducted by the soon-to-be inducted Special Forces operators.

Lake Tanganyika served as the backdrop for the intense exercises, which showcased the trainees' mastery of critical skills necessary for operating in Zambia's water bodies.

The demonstrations included endurance combat swimming, realistic boat capsising drills, complex swift man overboard, and sn**ch operations.

The Commander Zambia Army has since expressed his satisfaction with the level of preparedness displayed by the trainees.

The successful ex*****on of each demonstration underscored the comprehensive and demanding nature of the Special Forces training, effectively proving their readiness to safeguard Zambia's water bodies.

Tomorrow's induction parade is expected to be a significant event, marking the official entry of these highly skilled trainees into the elite ranks of the Special Forces.
