That’s what 20 learners have been learning through Zambia’s new Lithium-Ion Battery Skills Award! 👊🏆

Why does this matter?
Because as solar power and e-mobility grow in Zambia, we need the skills to repair, reuse and recycle batteries safely.

“Born 8 years ago, the kid is now going to school!” 🥳

As Hon. Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane put it, the GET FiT Zambia Programme has come a long way — and now it has reached its first financial close, with Globeleq’s 40 MW solar PV project in Kafue District.☀️🤝

A major step towards the programme’s 120 MW solar portfolio and an important signal of growing investor confidence in Zambia’s energy sector.💪

The lesson is clear: diversify beyond hydropower and work closely with the private sector!

Clean energy for Zambia, here we come!💡💛

At a traditional ceremony in Nyambo, we signed a MoU with Her Royal Highness, Chieftainess Muwezwa, to advance community-led landscape restoration and sustainable resource management.

Why?
Healthy landscapes help protect the water communities rely on for their homes, farming, and livelihoods.

Did you know that in the Kafue Flats, 𝑀𝑖𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑎 𝑝𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎 is threatening wetlands and the resources communities rely on? Through Aware 2.0 and in collaboration with traditional leaders we are exploring together with partners ways to remove the plant and turn the cleared biomass into useful products.

Solutions that protect water resources must be shaped and carried forward with the people who depend on them.

Ina 👩‍💼, who works for the city of Nuremberg 🇩🇪🏰 and who studies Intercultural Management in Germany, visited the German Embassy today to gain insights into Zambian-German cultural relations 🇿🇲🤝🇩🇪. The discussion with our colleague from the Embassy also centered on the routine tasks of German government officials while abroad 📋✈️.

Team Europe in Eastern Province! 🇪🇺🇿🇲🤝

We are on the ground in Eastern Zambia! Four European Embassies, German Embassy, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Ireland, and the British High Commission joined forces for a joint field mission to development project sites across Eastern Province.

Our teams toured diverse development project sites to witness the impact of our sustainable partnerships in action and assess the drought preparedness or El Niño resilience on the ground.

The consular section will be reachable via e-mail and phone. No emergency visas can be issued during the time of closure, such requests will not be answered by us.
