We are pleased to announce the appointment of Diana Bunting as Chairperson of the Tax Appeals Tribunal. She is the first female to hold this position at the Tribunal.
Ms Bunting is a highly accomplished tax lawyer, legal practitioner and tax administration specialist with extensive experience in tax law, dispute resolution, legislative drafting and tax administration.
She holds a Master of Philosophy in Taxation from the University of Pretoria, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zambia, a Legal Practitioners Qualifying Certificate from ZIALE, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting.
Ms. Bunting’s career includes senior legal leadership at the Zambia Revenue Authority, where she served as Legal Counsel, overseeing litigation, tax appeals, legal advisory services and the drafting and review of tax legislation. She currently serves as a Senior Projects Officer in the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, where she develops global training programmes on tax dispute resolution and has also served as a Short-Term Expert for the International Monetary Fund, providing technical assistance on tax dispute resolution, appeals processes, international taxation and tax administration in Ethiopia, Kenya, Zanzibar and Eritrea.
As Managing Partner of D Bunting & Associates, she continues to provide expertise in tax law, commercial law, dispute resolution, legislative drafting and corporate governance. She is also an Honorary Lecturer in Taxation at ZIALE and has served as an External Examiner for Legal Practitioners’ Qualifying Examinations.
With her wealth of legal, taxation and dispute-resolution experience, Ms Bunting brings expertise, leadership, independence and strategic insight to the leadership of the Tax Appeals Tribunal.
