HAPPY NEW YEAR.
But the problems of the last 5 years are still with us.

Data from Afrobarometer shows just how serious youth unemployment is in Zambia: more than half of young people are unemployed, and only 1 in 5 people aged 18-35 are currently working.

Interestingly, despite the lack of adequate training, Zambian youths are actually more educated than the older generation. However, a mismatch between education and job requirements, combined with limited work experience, continues to worsen the situation.

If young Zambians could choose their own jobs, half would choose to start their own businesses.
So, what should we do more this year?

• Fund youth-led innovations and businesses
• Provide skills training and confidence-building
• Identify potential and nurture meaningful business interests

Creating social impact through young people must be a priority for all sectors in 2026 and beyond.

This morning, our consultant and founder, Mwiza Bwali will feature on Radio Christian Voice Community Forum. He will be discussing the need for Social Impact.

He will also be sharing some interesting projects our principal client will be implementing over the next semester for the benefit of society and, most importantly, the youth.

Communication isn’t just a skill for the youth, it’s a skill for everyone.

At House of Democracy, we provide Communication and Public Speaking Training to people from all walks of life, including politicians and business leaders.

Through our Social Impact Arm, House of Humanity, we’re also developing a program called “Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today.” This initiative is designed to equip university students with the skills they need to transition into the workplace and become more employable through enhanced communication skills.
