Understanding Triage at Mansa General Hospital (MGH)

At Mansa General Hospital (MGH), triage is the first and most important step in ensuring every patient receives timely and appropriate care.

What is Triage?
Triage is the process of quickly assessing patients when they arrive at the hospital to determine how urgent their condition is. This helps healthcare workers prioritize patients based on the severity of illness or condition not the order of arrival.

Why Do Some Patients Go First?
Sometimes you may hear someone say “ abo mwaita, bachi nsanga” meaning (the person you've called found me here ).
This does not mean someone has unfairly skipped the queue. It means the patient who went ahead was assessed to have a more serious or life-threatening condition that required immediate medical attention.

How Triage Works:
🔴 Emergency Cases – Life-threatening conditions are treated immediately.
🟡 Urgent Cases – Serious conditions that need quick attention are seen next.
🟢 Non-Urgent Cases – Minor conditions may wait longer while critical cases are prioritized.

Why Triage Matters:
1. Saves lives by treating the sickest patients first
2.Ensures fair and professional patient care
3. Helps healthcare teams manage emergencies effectively
4. Improves patient safety for everyone

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Even if you arrived earlier, another patient may be attended to first because their condition is more urgent.
At MGH , every patient matters and triage helps us care for you safely and efficiently.
