New Project to Strengthen Land Use and Climate Resilience in Nkambo Chiefdom.
Masaiti Town Council is partnering with the People's Process on Housing and Poverty in Zambia and Weforest to roll out a Village Land Use Plan in four zones of His Royal Highness Chief Nkambo’s Chiefdom.
The initiative, under the Transforming Landscape for Resilience and Development (TRALAD) Phase Two project running from 2026 to 2032, aims to promote sustainable land use and build stronger climate resilience in rural communities.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement meeting held at Masaiti Boarding Secondary School, Council Director of Human Resources and Administration Bornface Muzumara said the plan was developed through a bottom-up approach. Mr. Muzumara has called on all government departments in the district to work closely with stakeholders to ensure the project achieves its goals.
And People's Process on Housing and Poverty in Zambia Project Officer David Katungula explained that the project will work directly with community members to find local solutions to climate challenges and protect natural resources. He added that once fully rolled out, the programme will be extended to other parts of Masaiti District.
This partnership marks another step in Council’s commitment to sustainable development and empowering communities to manage their land for future generations.
