Mpongwe West aspirant goes unopposed within UPND party
UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Mpongwe West aspiring Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Kasambo, has gone unopposed within the party ahead of the 13 August general elections.
Speaking in an interview this, Mpongwe District UPND Chairman Humphrey Chibundi confirmed that no one has challenged Kasambo from within the UPND.
“As things stand, even if someone from the opposition political parties were to challenge Kasambo, it will be a walkover. For us in Mpongwe West Constituency, it is a done deal for Kasambo, Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema, and the entire United Party for National Development,” Chibundi said.
He further revealed that, by contrast, Mpongwe East Constituency has attracted seven candidates challenging incumbent Member of Parliament Gregory Ngowani from within the party.
Chibundi stated that the lack of a challenger in Mpongwe West shows that Kasambo is a force to be reckoned with and is poised to win big as incoming MP as well as to deliver victory for President Hakainde Hichilema in Mpongwe West and the entire Mpongwe District in the forthcoming 13 August 2026 polls.
The Mpongwe District UPND Chairman said he firmly believes the party is destined to scoop all positions in the district, from ward level to the presidency, because of what President Hakainde Hichilema has achieved in the past four and a half years in Mpongwe District and beyond.
