24 VOTERS EDUCATION FACILITATORS DEPLOYED ACROSS RUFUNSA DISTRICT

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has deployed 24 Voters Education Facilitators (VEFs) across all the 12 wards of Rufunsa District to conduct voter education activities aimed at enhancing public awareness and participation in electoral processes.

The facilitators underwent an intensive training programme from 23rd May to 29th May 2026, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively deliver voter education to communities throughout the district.

Following the successful completion of the training, the 24 facilitators were officially deployed on 1st June 2026 and are currently conducting voter education sessions in their respective wards. The exercise seeks to provide citizens with accurate information on electoral procedures, voter rights and responsibilities, and the importance of active participation in democratic governance.

Through community meetings, public engagements, and door-to-door sensitization activities, the facilitators are reaching out to members of the public to ensure that no eligible voter is left behind in accessing electoral information.

The Electoral Commission encourages all residents of Rufunsa District to actively participate in the voter education exercise by engaging with the facilitators and taking advantage of the opportunity to learn more about electoral processes.

The filing in of nominations for aspiring Council Chairperson candidates in Rufunsa District is currently ongoing ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

So far, the following aspiring candidates have successfully filed their nominations for the position of Council Chairperson for Rufunsa Constituency:

1.Lawrence Musopelo – Independent
2. Ireen Chikatula – UPND
3. Bartholomew Kalambalala – NRPUP

The nomination process is being conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in accordance with the guidelines set by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
