ENERGY AS A CATALYST FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: HON. ROMEO KANGOMBE'S CONTINUED EFFORTS IN SESHEKE CONSTITUENCY

Energy remains one of the most critical drivers of socio-economic development across the world. In rural communities, access to reliable and sustainable power transforms livelihoods, enhances service delivery, and creates opportunities for growth. It strengthens education, improves healthcare, and boosts local enterprise. Recognising this undeniable link between energy and development, Hon. Romeo Kangombe, Member of Parliament for Sesheke Constituency, has continued to champion initiatives aimed at expanding access to clean and efficient energy within his community.

In his ongoing commitment to improving public services in Sesheke, Hon. Kangombe has successfully lobbied for the solar electrification of Ngweze Rural Health Post and Nañombe Rural Health Post from UNICEF. These health facilities, like many in remote areas, have long faced challenges associated with unreliable or nonexistent electricity. With new solar systems, they will now be better equipped to provide essential services such as night-time medical care, vaccine refrigeration, and efficient delivery of emergency services. This development marks an important step toward strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the well-being of residents in these communities.

The lawmaker’s efforts extend beyond health facilities. Hon. Kangombe has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all Rural Health Posts and Schools in Sesheke receive adequate solar electrification. Such investments will not only enhance the quality of education and healthcare but also contribute to long-term socio-economic progress. Electrified schools can offer extended study hours, digital learning opportunities, and improved teacher retention, while electrified health posts guarantee safer and more effective medical services.

HON. ROMEO KANGOMBE 'S OFFICE ADVANCES SOCIAL DELIVERY SYSTEMS IN SESHEKE CONSTITUENCY.

One of the key developmental pillars of Hon. Romeo Kangombe and his office for the growth of Sesheke Constituency is to "Improve Social Delivery Systems." In pursuit of this goal, we have partnered with several local and international organisations to support and enhance development in the area.

We are proud to announce that medical equipment and supplies have been successfully offloaded in Katima, Sesheke Constituency, and are now ready for distribution to our Health Facilities, an important milestone in boosting our healthcare capacity.

We remain deeply grateful to our dedicated partners, Liseli Foundation and Project C.U.R.E. from Zambia within and the United States of America, for their generous support. Slowly but surely, we are moving forward in developing Sesheke.

YETA DISTRICT HOSPITAL RECEIVES MODERN 'HI TECH' EQUIPMENT- HON. KANGOMBE APPLAUDS GOVERNMENT

Sesheke, Zambia – June 30, 2025 — Yeta District Hospital has taken a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare delivery with the installation of state-of-the-art medical equipment in its major theatre and radiology department during the month of June 2025.

The newly installed “Hi-Tech” equipment in the major theatre includes:

An electric surgical bed designed for greater precision and comfort during operations,

Two high-intensity LED surgical lamps to provide optimal lighting in the operating area,

A modern anaesthesia machine with a built-in monitor to enhance patient safety and monitoring during procedures,

A flat-screen display for use with surgical cameras to support minimally invasive operations,

And various advanced surgical accessories to support a wide range of procedures.

Additionally, the hospital’s radiology department now boasts a modern digital X-ray machine, enabling faster, more accurate imaging and improved diagnostics for patients in Sesheke Parliamentary District and surrounding areas.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Romeo Kangombe, Member of Parliament for Sesheke Constituency, expressed profound gratitude to the government for prioritizing the health needs of the Parliamentary District.

"This is a milestone achievement for our district. I sincerely applaud the government for equipping Yeta District Hospital with such ‘Hi-Tech’ facilities. These investments show a genuine commitment to uplifting healthcare standards in rural and underserved areas like Sesheke," Hon. Kangombe said.

The upgraded facilities are expected to significantly reduce patient referrals to faraway hospitals and improve the quality and efficiency of surgical and diagnostic services within the Constituency.

The community has welcomed the move with optimism, with many expressing hope that the improved infrastructure will lead to better health outcomes and a stronger healthcare system for the Constituency.

HON ROMEO KANGOMBE INTERVENES TO AVERT MEDICAL CRISIS AT YETA DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

Sesheke, Zambia – June 28, 2025

In a swift and decisive response to an urgent healthcare crisis, Hon. Romeo Kangombe, Member of Parliament for Sesheke Constituency, has facilitated the sourcing and delivery of essential medical supplies to Yeta District Hospital, which had completely run out of critical items such as intravenous (IV) fluids, examination gloves, and other basic necessities.

The shortage had placed immense pressure on the hospital’s ability to provide even the most fundamental care, putting lives at risk and disrupting services for the people of Sesheke and surrounding areas.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Hon. Kangombe took immediate action by facilitating sourcing the much-needed medical supplies from ZAMSA, Lusaka. These included IV fluids vital for patient hydration and treatment, as well as examination gloves necessary for safe and hygienic medical procedures.

In a further demonstration of personal commitment and leadership, Hon. Kangombe released his own truck to transport the supplies from Lusaka to Sesheke. This ensured a timely and cost-effective delivery to Yeta District Hospital, circumventing bureaucratic delays and logistical constraints that often hamper rural healthcare interventions.

Speaking on the development, Hon. Kangombe said:

"The health and well-being of our people must always come first. It was unacceptable for Yeta District Hospital to be operating without these critical supplies. I had to act quickly to restore basic healthcare services and prevent further risk to patients and healthcare workers.”

Hospital staff and community members have welcomed the intervention with gratitude, noting the significant impact the supplies will have on patient care. The replenishment will allow the hospital to resume normal operations, including outpatient treatment, emergency care, and maternity services.

Healthcare officials at the district level praised the MP's hands-on approach, calling it a model of effective constituency leadership and accountability.

This is not the first time Hon. Kangombe has taken direct action to address healthcare gaps in his constituency. Over the past year, he has supported various initiatives aimed at improving rural health infrastructure, staff welfare, and community outreach services.

HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR NAKATINDI WARD AS HON. ROMEO KANGOMBE OFFICIALLY HANDS OVER FIRST EVER MARKET AND ABLUTION BLOCK.

Sesheke District, Western Province – June 23, 2025

In a landmark development for the people of Nakatindi Ward, Hon. Romeo Kangombe, Member of Parliament for Sesheke Constituency, has officially handed over the first-ever market infrastructure, which includes a public ablution block, to the local community. The commissioning ceremony marked a significant step in improving local commerce, sanitation, and community livelihood in the ward.

Hon. Kangombe was joined at the event by several dignitaries, including Sesheke District Commissioner Mr. Namenda Alex, Council Chairperson Mr. Kapelwa Simushi, Nakatindi Ward Councillor Ms. Mwangala Musiwa, and Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Chairperson Mr. David Mwendabai Hankede. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative governance and the unified effort to bring meaningful development to the people of Nakatindi.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Kangombe described the market as a "symbol of transformation and empowerment" for the ward. “This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we prioritize the needs of our people and use public resources transparently and effectively. The market will not only provide a dignified trading space but also enhance hygiene standards through the attached ablution block,” he said.

This infrastructure will benefit not only traders but the entire community,” he stated.

Council Chairperson Mr. Kapelwa Simushi emphasized the importance of sustainable use and community ownership of the facility. “It is now up to the people of Nakatindi to ensure this investment is well maintained and serves future generations,” he said.

Councillor Mwangala Musiwa, who represents Nakatindi Ward, thanked all stakeholders for making the project a reality. “Today, we are not just opening a market; we are opening doors to opportunity, health, and dignity,” she remarked emotionally.

The project, co-financed under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Central Government, is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing service delivery in rural areas.

As the ribbon was cut and the facility officially handed over, community members expressed joy and appreciation, hailing it as a new beginning for local business and community life in Nakatindi Ward.

HON. ROMEO KANGOMBE HANDS OVER KEY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN SESHEKE PARLIAMENTARY DISTRICT.

Sesheke, Western Province – June 18, 2025

On June 16th and 17th, 2025, Hon. Romeo Kangombe, the Member of Parliament for Sesheke Constituency, led a significant developmental tour across the district, officially handing over several infrastructure projects aimed at improving education, sanitation, and public service delivery in the area.

Accompanied by Sesheke District Commissioner Mr. Namenda Alex, Council Chairperson Mr. Kapelwa Simushi, the Leashimba for Sesheke Chiefdom (Mwandi Kuta), the CDF Committee Chairperson Mr Daivid Hankede, and a delegation of Ward Councillors, Hon. Kangombe officiated the handover of critical infrastructure to the local communities.

The projects included:

A 1x3 classroom block at Maondo School,

A new Fish Market facility,

A modern Public Ablution Block to enhance sanitation in the area,

A Multifunction Water Bowser, expected to improve water access and emergency response services,

A 1x3 classroom block at Kaande Primary School, and

Both a 1x3 and a 1x2 classroom block at Neyanda Primary School.

These developments represent a continued commitment by Hon. Kangombe and the local leadership to invest in education, public health, and economic infrastructure in Sesheke.

Speaking at one of the events, Hon. Kangombe reaffirmed his dedication to improving living standards in the constituency. “Education and sanitation are pillars of development. These projects are not just structures; they are investments in the future of our children and the well-being of our communities,” he said.

The community members, school administrators, and local traders expressed gratitude for the much-needed improvements, highlighting the positive impact they will have on learning environments, hygiene standards, and local commerce.

Mr. Namenda Alex, the District Commissioner, also praised the collaborative efforts between government stakeholders and the community. “Development is best achieved when leaders work hand in hand with the people. These handovers mark another milestone in our journey of uplifting Sesheke.”

Mr Kapelwa Simushi, the Council Chairperson strongly advised the marketeers to always operate within the market since infrastructure is now provided. He further added that, anyone found operating outside the market, risk their merchandise being confiscated."

With continued efforts and collaboration, the district leadership is advancing infrastructure development across the ten (10) wards in Sesheke Constituency.

One of the developmental pillars for Sesheke Member of Parliament Hon. Romeo Kangombe is "IMPROVING TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATION". Under this pillar, the Law Maker led a ground breaking ceremony to commence drainage construction works at the Central Business District (CBD). This was done on 16th September 2024, and serious works has since started (as evidenced in the pictures). Hon. Romeo Kangombe was accompanied by the District Commissioner Mr Namenda Alex, the Council Chairperson Mr Kapelwa Simushi, Heads of Government Departments, and the general Constituents.
