TOWN CLERK JOINS PROVINCIAL PERMANENT SECRETARY TO INSPECT FRA CONSTRUCTION WORKS
Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk Mr. Damson Mukwato today joined North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, Col. Grandson Katambi to inspect the ongoing construction of the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) storage sheds in the Mitukutuku area being funded by government.
Col. Katambi highlighted the importance of the infrastructure in strengthening national food security by providing safe and conducive storage facilities for maize produced in the province.
He noted that the sheds would contribute to the preservation of maize, reduce post-harvest losses and enhance the country’s capacity to maintain adequate strategic food reserves.
Meanwhile Mr. Mukwato re-echoed that the project once completed would contribute to agricultural activities in Solwezi District by providing farmers with reliable maize storage facilities, reducing post-harvest losses and promoting better management of agricultural produce.
He added that the infrastructure would strengthen the local agricultural value chain, create a more conducive environment for maize marketing and encourage increased agricultural production in line with the Government’s efforts to enhance food security and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
The Town Clerk was also accompanied by Acting Director Engineering Services Mr. Wezi Chirwa.
