Beitbridge Rural District Council (BBRDC), in partnership with the Office of the District Development Coordinator (DDC), has embarked on a district-wide capacity-building programme for Ward Development Committees (WADCOs).

The programme aims to equip local leadership structures with knowledge on their roles and responsibilities and empower them to spearhead inclusive and sustainable development initiatives within their communities.

The workshops are being conducted in collaboration with other Government departments and officers stationed in the respective wards, fostering a coordinated and integrated approach to local development.

A Beitbridge Rural District Council officer, Mr L Ndou engaged with community members on Lotsha FM, sharing information on the functions and responsibilities of the Finance Department and its role in promoting efficient and accountable local governance. Key topics discussed included the department's mandate, mechanisms used to monitor and control expenditure across Council departments, client services, terms of payment, and other financial management issues.
The interactive radio programme provided community members with an opportunity to receive information, ask questions, and share their views, demonstrating the Council's commitment to transparency, accountability, and meaningful citizen participation in local governance and service delivery.
