Good morning, everyone! 🌍✨

Another beautiful lesson to ponder from our Trip to China 🇨🇳 — Universal Studios Beijing.

Beyond the thrilling rides, spectacular entertainment and unforgettable experiences lies a powerful lesson: entertainment can be transformed into a sustainable revenue-generating enterprise through creativity, innovation, technology and excellent customer experience. 🎢🎬💡

Universal Studios shows us that when imagination meets good business, fun becomes an industry and experiences become valuable products.

Another lesson learnt: Don’t just create something people enjoy — create an experience people are willing to pay for.

Good morning and may we continue learning beyond the classroom! 🌟

🇨🇳 China Educational Tour 2026 – Visit to NTS Steel Manufacturing

Our learners had an exciting educational visit to New Tianjin Steel (NTS), where they observed first-hand how steel was manufactured using advanced technology and automation.

One of the key lessons was how technology had transformed modern steel production. The learners observed different stages of the manufacturing process and saw how robots and automated systems handled much of the work. Some production areas experienced temperatures of over 50°C, making prolonged human presence difficult. Only a few workers were therefore required to monitor and inspect the process for limited periods.

We also learnt how China promoted local employment and supported the growth of local companies. Throughout our visits, we observed a strong presence of local citizens in the public sector. At NTS, our learners were also introduced to the importance of innovation, with the company proudly displaying over 600 patent certificates. A patent is a legal right that protects an invention or new technological idea, giving its owner exclusive rights to use it for a specified period.

The day ended on a creative note with an art lesson, where our learners had the opportunity to paint beautiful butterflies. 🦋🎨

Another memorable day of learning, discovery and hands-on experiences, proving once again that learning goes beyond the classroom!

DAY 5 – BEIJING TO TIANJIN: EXPERIENCING CHINA’S HIGH-SPEED FUTURE 🇨🇳🚄

Warm greetings to our valued parents, guardians and stakeholders.

Day 5 took us from Beijing to the vibrant city of Tianjin, where our learners experienced one of China’s remarkable high-speed bullet trains. Covering approximately 120 km between the two cities, our journey took just 33 minutes — an experience that left the learners amazed at the speed, comfort and efficiency of China’s railway system. The Beijing–Tianjin line is designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h, although actual operating speeds vary by service.

For our young Zimbabwean learners, this was more than a train ride. It was a living lesson in how vision, investment, science, technology and disciplined planning can transform a nation. Seeing such development first-hand challenges them to dream beyond what they know and to imagine what they can one day design, build and contribute to Zimbabwe.

Our buying experience in Beijing and Tianjin also offered another valuable lesson. We encountered a wide range of quality and well-presented products in mainstream shops, giving us a broader understanding of China beyond the image sometimes created by the low-cost, poor-quality goods that are selectively sourced for certain markets. The experience reminded us that what a country produces and what a market chooses to buy can be two very different things.

The day ended with our arrival and overnight stay in Tianjin — another memorable chapter of discovery, inspiration and learning on our China Educational Tour 2026. 🇿🇼🌍🇨🇳

Warm greetings to our valued parents, guardians and stakeholders.

We are delighted to share another memorable chapter of our China Educational Tour 2026. Today, our learners had the opportunity to visit the magnificent Great Wall of China, an experience that brought history, geography, engineering, leadership and national development to life beyond the classroom. Standing on this iconic structure and witnessing its vastness first-hand was truly an unforgettable learning experience.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for learners to appreciate how nations have responded to challenges such as security, geography, population movement and the protection of productive communities. Beyond its impressive size and architectural achievement, the Great Wall gave our learners a practical understanding of how historical decisions can shape the development and identity of a nation.

I deliberately kept the food-security connection historically defensible rather than saying the Wall was built specifically to preserve harvested crops. UNESCO itself describes it as a defence system reflecting the interaction between agricultural and nomadic societies.

As we wound down the day, the experience reached an extraordinary high note with a spectacular live Chinese acrobatics performance. Our learners were treated to a breathtaking display of precision, balance, flexibility, strength, coordination and seemingly impossible human feats, presented with the discipline and artistry for which Chinese acrobatics is renowned. The energy, timing and daring of the performers, including presentations inspired by the excellence seen on the Olympic stage, left the audience spellbound. It was a fitting and exhilarating finale to a day already filled with history and discovery — a truly unforgettable evening of culture, athletic excellence and world-class entertainment.

🇨🇳 *Onboard Learning – China Educational Tour 2026*

Learning never stops on our China Educational Tour. Beyond the scheduled attractions, every walk between destinations presents another classroom. As we move from one site to another, learners are encouraged to observe and ask questions.

Today's onboard learning focused on Beijing's public bicycle and scooter transport system. Bicycles and electric scooters are placed at strategic public locations such as bus stations, shopping centres and residential areas. Users simply scan the QR code, make an online payment and unlock the bicycle or scooter, with a day's use averaging around US$2.

After use, they can be left at any designated public location near the destination rather than being returned to where they were collected. GPS technology helps operators monitor the fleet, redistribute bicycles where demand is highest and keep the system running efficiently.

Our question to all our valued parents, guardians and stakeholders is this: Do you think such a bicycle and scooter sharing system could work in Zimbabwe, across Africa or perhaps even right here in our hometown of Bindura? We would love to hear your thoughts!

Day 3 Update – China Educational Tour 2026

Warm greetings to all our beloved Parents and Guardians.

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer." Each day in Beijing continues to broaden our learners' horizons as they experience China's remarkable history, innovation and culture firsthand.

As usual, our breakfast was scheduled at 0700hrs, but honestly, after the previous day’s marathon of walking and standing, most learners were in a state that can only be described as “battery at 1% with no charger in sight.” Waking them up required more than one strategy—some needed repeated calls, others needed gentle shaking, and a few looked like they were negotiating for “just five more minutes in bed.” Despite the struggle, we managed to rush for breakfast and successfully regrouped with our coach at 0800hrs for the day’s activities.

Our first visit was the China Science and Technology Museum (中国科学技术馆). Learners explored interactive exhibits in physics, space, robotics and environmental science, experiencing firsthand how innovation and technology are driving China's development while making learning exciting and practical.

We then proceeded to the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution (中国人民革命军事博物馆), where learners gained insight into China's journey through struggle, national defence and the importance of patriotism, unity and safeguarding national sovereignty.

In between and after the visits, learners also had brief shopping moments. However, it is becoming clear that Beijing is a highly touristic city where one must be extremely careful—without proper guidance, you either end up buying very cheap replicas or original products priced many times higher than what we are used to in Zimbabwe. As such, more research and careful exploration will be done before any major purchases are made.

Overall, the learners thoroughly enjoyed another enriching day, remaining curious, excited and fully engaged throughout the programme.

China Educational Tour – Day 2 Update
Warm greetings to all our beloved Parents and Guardians.
We thank God for another blessed and memorable day in Beijing. Today's educational tour focused on Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City.
The journey from Sunflower Hotel took about 1 to 1½ hours. Upon arrival, we joined queues stretching over a kilometre, taking nearly two hours to clear multiple security checkpoints. The crowds were enormous, so everyone had to stay very close together to avoid getting separated.
One of the lighter moments of the day was that, while we were eager to experience China's rich history, many local visitors seemed just as eager to experience "African tourism." Our learners and staff became popular attractions themselves, receiving countless requests for photographs with local visitors. By the end of the morning, we were all smiling, laughing and joking that we had become celebrities for the day!
At Tian'anmen Square, learners appreciated its importance as the symbolic heart of modern China. We then toured the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace whose magnificent gates, courtyards and halls reflect China's rich history and enduring cultural identity.
At around 1409hrs (China Standard Time), we enjoyed lunch at another hotel, where the rotating dining table and the experience of using chopsticks made the meal both fun and memorable.
Afterwards, we returned to Sunflower Hotel for a refreshing bath, a short rest and later enjoyed our supper.
By God's grace, all learners and staff remain safe and in high spirits. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
