To the K***a people__we have come a long way--co-existing along with the wildlife. The journey, and the experience itself, has spiritually strengthened us as K***a people. Now that we're here. "Chembe twende pamo"—together we honour those who came before us, celebrate those who stand beside us today, and inspire those who will follow after us. Let us also remember that "We are Custodians of our Lands"__ our values, tradition and the natural world. Our ancestors taught us to live in harmony with nature—to respect the rivers, forests, wildlife, and every living thing that sustains life. May we continue to protect this sacred inheritance, living not as owners of the earth but as faithful guardians, so that our future generations may enjoy the same blessings we have received.

“Well done, Rangers! This truly reflects the magnitude of your work and the selfless commitment shown by every man and woman who goes above and beyond to save lives.” Hope the young man is doing well. We have a new Ranger in the making. The Ark Ngarava are proud to say to Ranger Mbewe and Ranger Tiba keep the good work going.

Six-year-old Terrence Mundunge is fortunate to have escaped a buffalo encounter in an area adjacent to Savé Valley Conservancy with only minor injuries.

While the incident could have had a far more serious outcome, the brief timeframe of the encounter may have worked in his favour, with the animal knocking him aside rather than causing further harm.

We commend the swift action of our community rangers, who immediately raised the alarm, as well as the National Parks and Wildlife Management team and Savé Valley Conservancy response teams, who attended to the situation with professionalism and care.

This incident underscores the importance of well-established safety protocols and the critical role of community awareness in areas where people and wildlife coexist.

As human populations continue to expand around the Conservancy, so too does the risk of human-wildlife conflict (HWC). Ensuring the long-term safety of both our communities and wildlife will require sustainable solutions, including the reinstallation of perimeter fencing around the Conservancy.

At Savé Valley Conservancy, we remain committed to strengthening conservation efforts that protect both people and wildlife, while working towards a more balanced and secure coexistence.
