NOTICE OF DRAFT MASTER PLAN ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION
CHIPINGE DISTRICT MASTER PLAN
The Chipinge Rural District Council hereby gives notice, in terms of subsection (2) of section 15 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 29:12, as read with section 8 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning (Master and Local Plans) Regulations, 1977 that the Chipinge District Master Plan has been adopted and is now on public exhibition commencing on 15 October, 2024 ending 14 December 2024.
All the documents relevant to the draft master plan are on public exhibition at Chipinge Rural District Council Offices, Stand No. 858 Main Street, Chipinge and Checheche Growth Point Council Offices on Monday to Friday every week during normal working hours and can be accessed electronically via email: [email protected]
Any interested person or organization may make objections to, or representations regarding the master plan, in writing to the Acting provincial Planning Officer, Department of Spatial Planning and Development, Block C, Second Floor, Government Composite Building, Corner Robert Mugabe Way and Fourth Street, Mutare on or before 28 December 2024. Objections and representations should state the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made.

Explanatory note. The master plan covers the entire district of 5393 square kilometres in extent. This plan forms the main development framework for undertaking decisions on the use of land and buildings, including the promotion of social, environmental and economic development, proper land use planning, regulated development - control of illegal developments and return to sanity. It is largely land use based focusing on settlement planning, orderly development, creation of a health environment, promoting public safety and liveability. Elements of the smart city concepts were fused in, enhanced service delivery, infrastructure planning and enhancement as well as climate proofed agriculture. The ultimate objective is to bring about balanced development and improved quality of life.
