VACANCY: TRUNK /FREIGHT DRIVER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post, which has arisen in a logistics company.

THE JOB
Reporting to the Operations Clerk, the successful applicants will among other key challenging aspects be responsible for:

Transporting customer goods for local and cross boarder operations from one point to the other as instructed by the Supervisor.
Ensuring goods are delivered in their right quantities, original condition and on time.
Ensuring that all accidents, irrespective of the severity, are to be reported forthwith to the Police and to the Operations Manager or his Appointee at the earliest possible time.
Ensuring vehicle road worthiness and readiness for duty before embarking on a Trip.
Ensures compliance to all road traffic regulations and company procedures.
Maintaining set fuel consumption targets.
Prepare accurate daily vehicle checklist, log books, driver trip sheets report and time sheets.
Complying with company's security, safety and health procedures.
Be Courteous to other road users, V.I.D officials, any local authorities, police officers, other road traffic authorities and the clients of the employer.

Any other duties as assigned.
THE PERSON
The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
Be in possession of a clean class (two) driver’s licence
Be in possession of valid retest, DDC & Medicals.
5 years’ experience in trunk, freight and link driving.
Be in possession of 5 “O” levels, including English, Maths and Science at Grade C or better
