Minister F.M Shava was the Guest of Honour at the 2nd Diaspora Investment Conference & Homecoming event in Masvingo. The event was organized in line with Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy (NDS1), aiming to boost Diaspora participation in national nation-building. It also serves as a follow-up to the first Annual Diaspora Investment Conference, which was held in April 2023 on the fringes of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), as well as the succeeding Provincial Diaspora Investment Conferences.

Today, the Acting Secretary Ambassador Rofina N. Chikava officiated the commencement of the Diplomatic Training Course for Ambassador Designates' at Munhumutapa Building in Harare. The Acting Secretary highlighted that their appointment is a clear sign of the confidence that His Excellency, President Dr. E.D Mnangagwa, as the Chief Diplomat has in them. The Diplomatic Training Course aims at equipping the new Ambassadors with the requisite knowledge for the ex*****on of the duties bestowed upon them. She further reiterated that the training also provided a synopsis of what lies ahead, the responsibilities and the deliverables expected by His Excellency . She urged the Ambassador Designates to explore potential opportunities in their jurisdictions and encompass the Diaspora in the thrust of leaving no one behind.

Today, student leaders from the University of Zimbabwe paid a courtesy call on Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade In their interactions the Deputy Minister urged the student leaders to lead by example in shunning drugs and substance abuse which have become a problem not only to Zimbabwe but the entire world especially amongst the youths. The Deputy Minister also highlighted that a drug free youth is a guarantee for the future of any given country and urged the youths to be role models to their fellow students as they are the future of the country. She hinted that wherever synergies would present themselves in terms cooperation on matters on youth and education, the Ministry is ready to facilitate on behalf of the youths.

Today, Acting Secretary Ambassador R. N. Chikava met with Ms Caroline Delaney, Director General of the Eastern Southern Africa Bureau of Global Affairs Canada. Their engagements focused on the Zimbabwe-Canada Political Consultations scheduled to take place before the end of 2024 and the upcoming visit by the Canada-Africa Chamber of Commerce from 29 September to 1 October 2024. The meeting considered a comprehensive agenda that focused on the status of the finances of the regional body. Member States were urged to honour their financial obligations in terms of their annual subscriptions and the SADC Mission in Mozambique and the DRC. The meeting discussed the regional food security and nutrition crisis, highlighting the challenges faced by 43 million people due to poverty, climate change, economic instability, armed conflicts, and epidemics. The Council also reiterated SADC’s call for the lifting of all forms of illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is a potential location for manufacturing solar energy products using advanced technological facilities from CW Enerjies. Yesterday evening at the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi, Ministers representing 123 WTO members issued a Joint Declaration marking the finalization of the Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement.
