A BIG THANK YOU HARARE PROVINCE
Statement from Harare Chairman champion Hon Wellington Chikombo
Just last month, the Citizen Coalition for Change was availed by our President Adv Nelson Chamisa. It was a huge event in the political history of Zimbabwe although others pretended to ignore it. As Harare province, we were tasked by our leadership with the responsibility of organising the first CCC rally and the 20 of February 2022 was the day, at Zimbabwe grounds.
Rally preparation:
As your Champion chairman, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped in organising for the success of the just ended mother of all rallies in Highfield. Special thanks to our MPs & Cllrs who supported the event from car rally to the final day, including the provincial organising team for administrative job like booking the venue and cutting of grass. Our youths did well in terms of providing tight security before, during and after the event. Every department within our province was collapsed to organise for this great event and the result is self explanatory - thank you all.
Party structures
Special thanks to all the 29 constituency coordinating committees including all the branches in greater Harare for mobilising and making sure Hararians came to be part of history at our first rally as CCC under the able leadership of our President Adv Nelson Chamisa. May I also thank all those who helped with transport to make sure that the organised masses came to be with us. Not forgetting all those who actual walked to the venue with others cycling. That was a sacrifice of great proportion
Braving restrictions
After having notified the police of our intentions to hold a rally, they grudgingly gave us the nod but with unbelievable conditions. The numerous mounted roadblocks leading to the venue were meant to discourage CCC supporters from attending the rally. People showed great determination and made it to the venue in time to be with others. Thank you for this display of bravery and determination.
Message delivered
The 20th of February 2022 will be recorded in the archives of history as the day when the court of public opinion overturned the court of law. The court of law, in its captured status tried to derail the people's march to victory in March 2020. It gave Thokozani Khupe the leadership of the MDC-T on temporary basis. This led to a flury of events which were calculated to annihilate our President and all those who believe in him. Harvest House was taken, the MPs and cllrs were recalled and as Mwonzora and team did this, they thought they were burrying the people's President Adv Chamisa. But the more they did this, the more they were alienating themselves from the masses, who truly yearn for total change. So as Harare province , we helped not in words but in numbers to deliver a strong political statement. The message is EMPHATIC- we believe in Adv Nelson Chamisa as we used to believe in our late founding father Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
Thank you President Chamisa
The People's President did not disappoint. Encouraged by mutitudes of cheering supporters clad in yellow as the new colour in town, President Chamisa delivered one of his best political statement. " I am going to govern this country whether you like it or not", he declared to a rupture of a vociferous crowd. This was in response to what the zanu pf President Mnangagwa had said while addressing his supporters in Epworth last week. Mnangagwa disdainfully said it's much nearer for someone to reach China by foot than for the opposition in Zimbabwe to get to State house.
President Chamisa's message was that of hope, about the new party- CCC, where we are and where we are going including the by- elections and the 2023 national elections. Once again I would like to thank our President for such a powerful political statement before such a bumper crowd.
Wayforward
Now that the event is over, let's engage another gear in voter registration. We are still in the first phase of voter registration, this is where elections are won. Let's also encourage those who voted last time to go and check whether they have not been moved to other voting centres without their knowledge. We must transform our supporters to voters.
Last but certainly not least, let's pray for some of our members from Dzivaresekwa who were involved in an accident on their way back from Zimbabwe grounds.
Indeed as your Chrmn, I humble myself before you and say thank you for your invaluable effort. Together we can make it happen. It is possible. Like what our President said, "we are ready to win the next elections and form a government". Let's all continue to contribute positively towards this vision.
God bless you.
