Fred Ramon Dos Santos Gomes from Brazil has been accepted into nine U.S. universities! Read his tips for international students:

💡 Practice your English. It's the first step and most important step for international students interested in studying in the U.S.

💡 Make a college/university list. Fred advises making a list that takes into account the cost (and availability of scholarships and financial aid), acceptance rate, and academic profile. It's important to decide which colleges are the best fit for YOU.

💡 Connect with EducationUSA. Look for and connect with your nearest EducationUSA center. He says this is helpful to receive orientation and guidance on steps to take during the application and admission process.

Happy Friday everyone! We hope you are all staying safe. Today we are celebrating Sithandokuhle Ncube, an EducationUSA Opportunity Fund scholar, who got into Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. We are very proud of her!

Sithandokuhle comes from Gwanda in the Matabeleland South province of Zimbabwe. She attended Matopo Primary School and proceeded to Matopo High School from Form One to Six. At O'level, she got 9As and 3Bs. Sithandokuhle went on to study Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry and scored 18 points for her A'level examinations. She always strived to do her best and surpass her previous results.

Being a day-scholar and part of the minority at a boarding school, motivated her to rise up and inspire others as well as make her community proud. Sithandokuhle found out about the EducationUSA Opportunity Fund program from her family and friends who all sent her the application form. She applied and was accepted into the program! During the Regular Decision round, she applied and was admitted into Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Sithandokuhle will be majoring in Civil Engineering. One of her aspirations is to promote the girl child and help prevent teenage pregnancies by starting a community center and providing resources to educate young people. We wish her well as she begins her studies at Lafayette this Fall!

Advice to prospective students: "If you can't do it for yourself, do it for those who believe in you."

Happy Friday everyone! Today we are celebrating Adrian Chimboza who got into Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire through the Regular Decision round. We wish him all the best!

Adrian completed his O'levels at Marist Nyanga High School before transferring to St Faith's High School, Manicaland, Zimbabwe for A'level. During his four years at Marist Nyanga, he was the best student in his class, and he attained 14 straight As at O'level. Outside the classroom, Adrian was the Vice Projects Director for the Marist Nyanga LEOS (Leadership Experience Opportunity) club and the President of Marist Youth Ministries (M.Y.M), a club that nurtured a sense of spirituality and godliness at the school. He was also a member of the Toastmasters Society, Science Club, and the Debate and Public Speaking Society. Adrian was appointed the role of Junior Captain, with responsibilities such as supervising study sessions, monitoring student discipline and fostering a sense of community at the school.

At St Faith’s High School, Adrian founded Agroecology Innovation Africa , an organization that advocates for environmental justice by promoting socio-ecological concepts in the design and management of sustainable food systems. After only a year at the institution,he was selected to be a Senior Prefect and to serve as the Projects Director for the LEO club . As the Projects Director, he coordinated donations for underprivileged communities around the school. Adrian was also a member of the St Faith’s Public Speaking and Debate Society. He studied Pure Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Statistics, and got 20 points in his A'level examinations.

Adrian’s journey to the U.S. kick-started when he got admitted into the 2020 Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) Virtual Program where he received knowledge on the Social Development Goals (SDG’s) and the U.S. application process. He simultaneously studied for his A’level examinations and applied to U.S. colleges in the midst of a pandemic. Adrian chose to apply to Dartmouth because of its tight knit community and was admitted through a competitive Regular Decision round. Adrian is passionate about science, sustainability and economics. He plans to pursue a double major in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Economics.

Adrian’s advice to prospective students: “Success is a manifestation of hard work. Never sleep at the chance to apply to that prestigious college, learn that programming language, play that sport and attend that college information session. Be open minded and never limit yourself.”

Greetings from Hudson Valley Community College! I hope that this message finds you and your family well. If you know a high school student, who is interested in higher education opportunities in the United States, then I have some exciting information to share with you! Hudson Valley Community College's Global Classroom High School Program allows high school students outside the United States to enroll in credited courses from the college. Credits can be applied to Hudson Valley Community College programs or transferred to most four-year colleges and universities in the United States. Because we want to make sure that this opportunity is accessible to as many high school students as possible, during the summer of 2021, students can enroll in up to six credit hours, FOR FREE! The next Summer Session for the Global Classroom High School Program is July 6th – August 13th. For your review, the table below provides a listing of the courses being offered through the Global Classroom High School Program this summer, which is also included on the Student Registration Information Form. Please note that all the courses listed will be delivered 100% online, enabling students to work on them from anywhere. Additionally, all the courses will use either free Open Educational Resources (OER), which will be available online, or materials with free access. This means that students will not need to purchase or receive course materials!!
