Today the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry launched four climate Strategy documents which are:
I. National Climate Change Learning Strategy
ii. Zimbabwe's Green Climate Fund Country Programme
iii. National Adaptation Planning Communication Strategy
iv. Climate Change Mainstreaming Module

These strategy documents will help in attaining the country's national climate change vision of having a ",Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Zimbabwe."

Background
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has made significant progress in integrating climate change into the basic education curriculum from Early Childhood Development (ECD) up to Advanced Level. However, there is still limited integration of climate change in the Higher and Tertiary Education sector in Zimbabwe. The Higher and Tertiary Education Sector is made up of teacher training colleges, agricultural training colleges, polytechnics and universities. The universities and teacher training colleges are responsible for the production of qualified teachers who are able to teach the different subject areas included in the basic education syllabi. The responsible university faculties and teacher training colleges are yet to integrate climate change into their teacher training programmes as a cross-cutting issue to meet the needs of the new basic education curriculum.

Objectives of consultancy
The Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry is seeking the services of a consultant to develop a proposal, through consultation and curriculum review exercises, to mainstream climate change into teacher training.

Deliverables
An inception report which will include among others an assessment of the ToRs; a methodology to carry out the assignment; data collection tools; a work plan and a list of stakeholders to be consulted. Inception report to be submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry within three working days from the date of signing the Contract; Workshop Reports / minutes of meeting for each of the consultation workshops to be organized / conducted by the consultant; Assessment report on the status of climate change integration in teacher training and in primary and secondary education curriculums; First draft and final draft proposal to mainstream climate change in the teacher training curriculum; Policy and media briefs on climate change learning in Zimbabwe and regionally; Summary report on the execution of the assignment, methodology employed, key findings and recommendations
