How Divide et Impera was deployed on Dzmbgw; the duty to END it & HOW 12-8-20
First and foremost the writer, Jayaguru Nyati, is an exponent of the revival, UNIFICATION and consolidation of the SHONA-speaking Dzmbgw Nation/CONFEDERACY thru Dzmbgw UNIFICATION into a Dzmbgw FEDERAL Union, of which the attendant amity, egalitarian socio-political democracy and military stability will be anchored on a Modern Industrial and Agrarian Economy and Infrastructure. Crucially, this document raises and discusses how Divide et Impera was central in the infiltration, degradation and ultimately subjugation and colonization of the Dzmbgw Nation-CONFEDERACY since 1500 by, in no particular order, Portugal, Rhodes and various other colonial actors and in multiple ways up to and including the Neo-Colonial Uti Possidetis vice by which Dzmbgw remains impaled by the chimerical neo-colonial states still sitting on it. The author aims to awaken Dzmbgw Progeny to this sad set of circumstances and mobilize them, intellectually and otherwise, towards the duty to end it and how.
It isn’t safe to presume readers know what a nation is. Wikipedia says ‘A nation is a stable community of humans formed on the basis of a common language, territory, history, ethnicity, and psychological make-up manifested in a common culture. ... A nation has also been defined as a cultural-political community that has become conscious of its autonomy, unity and particular interests’ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation). It is without dispute that prior to colonialism some peoples on the African continent existed as junk status polities, if at all, but there is a clear-cut ‘exceptionalism’ when it comes to Dzmbgw.
Suffice it to say it’s neither my intention to be too detailed nor pedantic regarding Dzmbgw particulars on this occasion. However, it has to be firmly stated that the Dzmbgw CIVILIZATION whose pre-colonial language of state was Shona qualifies as a distinct nation on the basis of its well established geographic location, culture, the Mbira among its other music instruments, spirituality, religion, legal practices and Confederate Unionism as well as farming, mining, hunting, manufacturing and deservedly famous stone masonry, details of which are done justice in numerous GUNGA & Dzmbgw UNIFICATION literature.
Put in brief, Dzmbgw territory stretches from the Eastern Fringes of the Kalahari Desert to its legitimate and equitable share of or corridor in the Indian Ocean AND between the Limpopo River and the Zambezi River to a point it then exceeds the Zambezi River to contain what is now known as Tete Province, Southern Nyasaland and Zambezia Province as eminently illustrated by our published Dzmbgw UNIFICATION Map.
Colonial curriculums, which GUNGA characteristically refers to as the diabolic King Albert ratified Missionary Education, have deliberately or, at best, involuntarily promoted mistruths which GUNGA literature endeavours to always challenge. Examples of challenges to conceptual injustices relevant to mention at this juncture include the fact that Colonialism on Dzmbgw SOIL began circa 1500 when Vasco Da Gama docked on Dzmbgw’s Indian Ocean coast as opposed to 1890 when the Rhodes’s Pioneer Column crossed the Limpopo; the Ndebele Annexation of Guruuswa (wrongly labelled Matebeleland between 1838 and 1840) was both a colonial and asylum invasion and, crucially, there is no DECOLONIZATION or independent nation states to talk of on Dzmbgw SOIL because neo-colonial entities that masquerade as nation states on the basis of African INDEPENDENCE were never nations but mere chunks, limbs or spheres of land and populations that were hacked from the Dzmbgw CIVILIZATION. For the avoidance of doubt Mozambique, Southern Malawi, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), the Caprivi Strip and Eastern Botswana are mere neo-colonial entities precariously squatting on Dzmbgw SOIL until they are summarily dissolved thru the DECOLONIZATION of Dzmbgw which is the same as Dzmbgw UNIFICATION. Those who claim to be presidents are merely overpriced rent-seeking neo-colonial prefects/admins on behalf of foreign subjugators while their opponents and the opposition parties they lead simply want a turn on the feeding trough. People who preach of a monolithic United States of Africa are megalomaniac fools who simply inherited the mantle of Rhodes’ land-grabbing appetite. Malema, one such breed appallingly but not surprisingly recently exhibited his calibre as a Rand Imperialist by advocating the dispatch of soldiers to discipline the miscreant Mnangagwa at Harare. The basis of my alarm is not that Mnangagwa isn’t evil but that even exponents of Apartheid never contemplated, let alone, execute Malema’s proposed military safari during their currency. Pre-colonial Africa had certain polities/nations which had demonstrable identities and frontiers that are extant and sacrosanct. The Dzmbgw CONFEDERACY is one such. Malema’s military ma********on gives a legitimate reason for Dzmbgw to be wary of neo-Pan Africanism. Further, and a great relief, GUNGA will never subscribe to client statehood. Consequently, ours will be genuine social democracy not the megaphone Herrenvolk Democracy or other nasty diktats by which remote controlled puppets masquerading as presidents subject neo-colonial serfs to the vexing and exploitative whims of their imperial masters.
According to Wikipedia, divide and rule (Latin: divide et impera), or divide and conquer, in politics and sociology is gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into pieces that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divide_and_rule). The Divide et Impera dictum was deployed in the decimation of the then formidable Dzmbgw CONFEDERACY.
The first to deploy it were the Portuguese whose military regiments and plenipotentiaries over several centuries since 1500 infiltrated and weakened the Mwene Mutapa aristocracy by supporting one aspirant or prince for the throne against another or others each time the demise of a holder necessitated the rise of another. Portuguese infiltration was compounded thru introduction of Christianity in the Mwene Mutapa royal households –which resulted in conflict and controversies as it compromised or completely negated and made redundant spirit mediums who had occupied hallowed space in matters of state and social cohesion. Dzmbgw Progeny should disabuse themselves of reckless beliefs that the Portuguese missionaries were noble preachers of glad tidings. They were be***al, homosexual and pa******le conquistadores who dripped with syphilis and gonorrhoea on stupefying missions. At the same time, contrary to past terms of engagement which Swahili Traders had practiced to the letter, Portuguese traders/merchants rapidly began to take direct control and supervision of gold mines. All these seepages of power, prestige and control from the Mwene Mutapa and his black elites to Portuguese operatives in matters of state, trade, culture and social cohesion of Dzmbgw played into the irate hands of what became the Rozvi War Lords and their parallel structures until the REALM split up.
As such, and notwithstanding its phenomenal achievements before the implosion that resulted from the flourish of its decadence, the Rozvi (calling them an Empire is a misnomer) breakaway of the Mwene Mutapa Empire (a misnomer again) was an emanation, call it objective and result if you like, of Portuguese strategies, activities and excesses at the courts of the Mwene Mutapa and, as well, the administration and discourse of the economic affairs of his realm.
Thru manipulation of the Dzmbgw Crown over petty issues the Portuguese succeeded to reduce and distract the Mwene Mutapa from the huge scope of responsibilities of his originally colossal REALM in order to concentrate on their new religion and socio-cultural shifts and allegiances there attendant, gold and other mining production quarters and whether or how to abandon sections of the realm and monarchical duties in general.
The Portuguese application of Divide et Impera on the Mwene Mutapa Establishment effectively deprived the Mwene Mutapa and his aristocracy any semblance of capacity to resist Portuguese mineral concession aggrandisement further inland and fertile territorial grabbing especially in the coastal areas. This was over and above the rise of what became a systemic failure to keep all regions of the realm, in particular the western Rozvi flank on side. The Mwene Mutapa decayed from his exalted status as the Lord of Gold Mines and the Custodian of the Dzmbgw LAND and REALM to a near insignificant cog among Portuguese colonial interests on Dzmbgw SOIL.
We have to look at Rhodes’ shenanigans that culminated in the Pioneer Column and the later Anglo-Matebele War of 1893-4 in his bid to grab the Second Rand and a corridor for his ambition to build a Cape to Cairo Railway Line, and how the earlier British infiltrating and hacking off Dzmbgw territory from the Cape, then Griqualand and thru their Trojan horse, the Bechuanaland Protectorate, further divided Dzmbgw. We also have to look at how the British had arrogated themselves Nyasaland thru the operation of David Livingstone and other Missionaries. We shouldn’t ignore how the Germans frantically demanded and got access, if corridor, the Caprivi Strip, to connect up to the Zambezi River which they and others considered eventually navigable and therefore strategic for purposes of the easy consummation of commerce on the Indian Ocean by colonies that were otherwise far removed from the Indian Ocean.
This is the interplay of factors, considerations, events and consensus which culminated in the partition of the Dzmbgw CONFEDERACY into the colonial borders that sealed the reigning grip of ‘Divide at Impera’. Far from Decolonization and creation of independent African States which Black Pan Africanists masquerade as having achieved Independence Charters wear tools to rather transform African Colonial entities into Neo-Colonial entities within the very same colonial borders –the only cosmetic change being new prefects who are predominantly repressive, misguided and gullible crony capitalists and Kleptocrats whose brains are irretrievably locked up in the forlorn belief that economies can subsist on extracting and exporting natural resources.
For all purposes and intents African States are just a modern disguise for African Colonies while the OAU is the chief guarantor of the Berlin Conference Agenda/Treaties. For Africa’s indigenes it’s suffer continue under Divide et Impera albeit ‘iHumba yawa kukangwa nemafuta ayo’. As pointed on numerous other instances of GUNGA literature it does not require Arthur Mutambara’s misapplied and irrelevant Oxford University PhD in Astrophysics to understand that decolonization of Dzmbgw should simply involve understanding and reversing the dictums and motions by which Dzmbgw was colonized. Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Southern Malawi, Eastern Botswana and the Caprivi Strip are mere colonial entities carved on Dzmbgw SOIL to enhance peaceful European exploitation of the natural resources on them per the 1884 Berlin Conference Resolutions.
As such, giving nation status to these colonial entities in the name of liberation or independence is like telling dismembered legs, hands, the stomach, the chest et al that they are separately and each full and functional humans. There’s nothing more bizarre and foolish than that. Severed parts of the Dzmbgw CIVILIZATION should find each other and merge in order to thereafter naturally exist and prosper as the single entity they naturally are. It’s a nullity to profess DECOLONIZATION on Dzmbgw SOIL without Dzmbgw UNIFICATION because no limb can be live, free and viable/functional outside the integrity of the whole. In any case colonies can’t morph into nations because they are chunks of land simply hacked into natural resource extraction allotments. All flags and other symbols of nationhood flounced by Zimbabwe et al are ‘a nullity’. On Dzmbgw SOIL DECOLONIZATION is equal to Dzmbgw UNIFICATION. That’s the reason GUNGA treats DECOLONIZATION on Dzmbgw SOIL and Dzmbgw UNIFICATION as indivisible.
After careful and systematic collation and analyses of the designs of European infiltrators and subjugators on and regarding the Dzmbgw REALM since 1500 one becomes enlightened to a point of realising that the salvation and future of Dzmbgw Progeny, wherever they are domiciled lies not in decrepit Pan Africanist movements or the charlatan opposition politics of neo-colonial Botswana, Dzmbgw, Mozambique, Malawi and Namibian zombie states but in Dzmbgw UNIFICATION of which removal of colonial borders is only but one of the vital benchmarks. One will realise that I do not have any inherent appetite to lift swords at Mthwakazi fiends as they are a minor blot on the destiny of Dzmbgw. No one can allege irredentism on Dzmbgw UNIFICATION because Dzmbgw Progeny don’t seek to claim/annex what’s not theirs previously or presently.
Dzmbgw UNIFICATION is not a pack of facile hallucinations but a coherent agenda that has capacity to mobilize Dzmbgw Progeny & deliver a modern and egalitarian FEDERAL Democracy together with a RAPID INDUSTRIAL ECONOMY transform the Dzmbgw REALM into a SUPER POWER on the basis of the motivation, resource endowments, industry and synergies of its people doing their best within their pre-Portuguese Frontiers. GUNGA firmly believes Dzmbgw is destined to be the WORLD’s next ECONOMIC miracle.
Our identity and collective consciousness as Dzmbgw Progeny may have been shaken to the core but it was never irreparably damaged. Detractors will try to justify Uti Possidetis Borders on the basis of the cosmetic variations and animosities in terms of language, governance systems and banal senses of allegiance, rivalry and conflict imposed on different segments of the Dzmbgw Progeny gene pool or REALM by variant colonialists but it’s all flimsy and mischievous as a thorough cost-benefit analysis of Dzmbgw UNIFICATION points at not just big socioeconomic and stable political/military dividends due to the resultant economies of scale and a need of only a brief integration period. In terms of the history of nations, the 500 years we lost is just but a minor blot on the sands of time. All we need is to heed the Dzmbgw UNIFICATION call and negotiate a patriotic cross-generational, cross ethnic and cross regional consensus around it.
I, Jayaguru Nyati, I unflinchingly subscribe to atavism. As such, Dzmbgw UNIFICATION is not only the raison d’être of the remainder of my life but an existential cause for which I’m ready to put my life on the line. Put alternatively, I’m ready to, and if needs be will, die for Dzmbgw UNIFICATION. My more immediate challenge, however, is to clearly spell out and sell this cause to Dzmbgw Progeny whose overwhelming majority I’m unreservedly believe will thunderously accept. I’ve a clear dream I encountered about Dzmbgw UNIFICATION but its realization requires that I put in the hard work to put it into motion.
In matters of ‘struggles for freedom’ the established wisdom is that no one can, let alone should, put a timescale on how long it will take to attain it. However, educated estimations as part of motivational strategy designs aren’t entirely unsound. On that premise GUNGA estimates and hopes that at most Dzmbgw UNIFICATION is achievable in 10 years. Much of that depends on, firstly: how swiftly Dzmbgw progeny will substantially awaken to the matters at stake then secondly: whether or not taking up arms may be necessitated by the resistance we are bound to face from vested interests that are likely to include both foreign powers and reactionaries –alternatively known as the 5th Column. If Dzmbgw Progeny will be left by powers that be to ‘unconditionally and peacefully’ (that’s without the odious prospects of harassment, criminalisation, torture or war) engage society, discuss and organise in all relevant territories and settings from start, thru all requisite referenda to the Jubilee Date 10 years would be reasonable to aim for.
GUNGA’s preferred Roadmap to Dzmbgw Unification is demolishing colonial mindsets & the odious colonial borders thru mass political campaigns, diplomacy & a REFERENDUM but we aren’t cowards. I wish for Dzmbgw UNIFICATION to be attained without bloodshed and in double quick time but that’s a remote possibility. Consequently GUNGA and I will hope for the best but plan for the worst. Grit, determination and, of course, personal sacrifices are required of us to recover our CIVILIZATION and secure ourselves a sound future on the basis of its formidable heritage and endowments. Apparently, Dzmbgw UNIFICATION is the only way to both end Divide et Impera and put our Nation’s DESTINY in our own hands
