Libraries should as a matter of urgency develop measurement processes to show what they can do empower the economic and social development of nations, says Mrs Matilda Manye Amissah-Arthur, Ghana’s ‘second lady’.
Strong library measurement processes would enable libraries to assess their competencies and quality of service, and share knowledge and collaborate to support national development, she said.
Mrs Amissah-Arthur, who is the wife of Ghana’s Vice President and herself a professional librarian, was speaking at the AfLIA (African Library and Information Associations and Institutions - http://www.aflia.net) conference, which took place from May 30 to June 2, in Accra, Ghana.
