We hoped it will be ZACC visiting Hopwell Chin'ono's House, asking him to work with them to expose the rot in government, and have more information on the scandals he unearthed but it was the ZRP and security agents sent to intimidate, abduct and possibly torture him. As a desperate clueless Zanu PF government tries to Muzzle freedom of the press, and intimidate people against expressing thier constitutional right to demonstrate.

*ERA reaction to handing over of vehicles to chiefs*

In as much as much as it is a noble idea to give our chiefs vehicles to use to carry out their constitutional mandates, Economic Reform Assembly condemns the move as we believe it was not done in the spirit of honesty and genuine interest of chiefs at heart. To start with, his Excellency the president of Zimbabwe CDE Munangagwa being only a few days in the office announced that all cars that had been bought for chiefs will be distributed to Government Departments as they have more use there, a few weeks down the line, new cars are bought for the chiefs again, nothing on the ground has changed that warrants chiefs to be given new cars save to the fact that there will be elections in a few months time.

We strongly believe that buying chiefs cars at a time when we are facing watershed elections is a way of "tooling" chiefs, bribing them as well as getting them ready to campaign for ZANU PF. The country has more pressing issues that urgently need the much needed foreign currency such as service delivery, infrastructure development, capital injection for some of our ailing industries, or even community development in those chiefs's ereas ie start irrigation projects, build dams etc... than splashing it on appeasing Chiefs by buying them expensive cars. The biggest questions we are all left with are, did we even have a budget for buying cars for the chiefs? Is this not tantamount to vote buying?

This shows that ZANU PF has not reformed in anyway, it only changed guard and it will continue with the mismanagement of the economy and it is clueless on how to tackle the major task of taking us out of the mess that they put us in, in the first place, they have only mastered the art of how to cling on to power for as long as it takes and by any means necessary even if it means bleeding the fiscus with unnecessary expenditures so long it keeps them in power.

There is need for our chiefs to be an independent and apolitica

Economic Reform Assembly is disturbed by acts of attempts of constitutional violation by ZANU pf and the MDC alliance

We as Era are disturbed that the two political parties are discussing bilateral to circumvent the people's constitution by 'delaying' elections. This is very sad for a 'new' Zimbabwe and shows that Zimbabwe is not yet free.
The people of Zimbabwe fought hard to have a people driven constitution which came to reality as constitution of Zimbabwe amendment no 20 act 2013. Which in reality the ZANU pf government has failed to fully honour and now has romped in their cousins the MDC.
Economic Reform Assembly is a people driven party and we believe in consultions and democratic processes which uplift the lives of Zimbabweans. The constitution of Zimbabwe is our holy grail through it we will usher in a NEW ERA a NEW Zimbabwe!

We as Era are saying to these wayward parties return to constitutionalism and draw your attention to section 143 and 158 (Timing of Elections)
Every Zimbabwean agreed that's how and when elections are going to happen.
The two political parties are not special they just have a mandate to be in the current Parliament and presidency and your days are numbered for both your organisation.
A Era government will realign the constitution and apply it fully because the constitution is the voice of the people and the voice of God!

Zec reduces BVR centres
- January 9, 2018
POLITICAL parties have expressed concern over the reduction of biometric voter registration (BVR) centres during the extended voter registration exercise, which starts tomorrow and ends on February 8.

BY NQOBANI NDLOVU

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) in Bulawayo on Friday, representatives of political parties said a lot of potential voters, particularly

so-called aliens, might fail to register to vote because of the reduced number of registration centres.

Zec allocated only six voter registration machines to each province, as compared to 110 machines, which were provided during the initial voter registration phases.

“The alien citizens will not have a fair and adequate time to exercise their rights since they got the waiver towards the end of the fourth phase. This is a great concern to us because most of these people will not have adequate time to sort out their documents. Again, Zec seems stingy with information pertaining to this exercise,” Economic Reform Assembly president, Amos Dangwa said at the meeting.

Dangwa also expressed concern to Zec over the few registration kits allocated to Bulawayo during the previous exercise.

Bulawayo got the least registration kits of 110, while Midlands province was allocated the highest, 353.

“I think you were not fair to Bulawayo. The reason why Bulawayo has got the least voter registration figures is because the province had very few registration centres as compared to other provinces. I think this is unfair,” he said.

An MDC–T representative also echoed Dangwa’s sentiments.

“Six machines will not be adequate to cover the whole of Bulawayo in a month. I think Bulawayo deserves more registration centres because the city has a lot of aliens, who might want to vote following the recent ruling that they are entitled to voting,” the official said.

The official also urged Zec to discard the proof of residence requirement, saying the

Economic Reform Assembly officials attended the ZEC engagement meeting.

President Amos Dangwa who is currently in Zimbabwe attended the mop up update meetings which was called by ZEC in Bulawayo to advice political parties among other stakeholders that the BVR exercise has been extended from the 10th of January to the 8th of February 2017. The youthful President was joined by the organising Secretary , Mr Tineyi Wande.

Economic Reform Agenda welcomes this development with open hands since this will surely give another chance to those who had not registered during the previous phases. However there are issues of concern attached to this development.

Speaking at the meeting President Dangwa raised concerns over the reduced number of polling stations and the BVR kits in this mop up exercise. The organizing secretary ERA, Mr Tineyi Wande, added in his contributions that it was important to extended this program as a full package given the fact that we now have aliens who never got a fair opportunity to be considered to exercise their right during the last phases later on some still do not have information that they are now allowed to register to vote.

ERA is however worried about the current Bulawayo statistics of registered voters against the projected , a deliberate and accelerated mobilisation is underway to make sure the numbers are boosted in Bulawayo. A call is therefore made to all Zimbabweans and Bulawayo to make use of this once again availed opportunity to go and register to vote.

The mop up will start from 10 January to 8 February
However this is a rolling phase at some wards they spend a day in others 2 days, reformers make sure you ready to mobilise everyone in your constituency, wards and beyond

As a party targeting Economic recovery as a major priority, it is our reminder to everyone that our wishes and dreams can only come true if we begin by registering our voices through voting and voting for ERA.
