Some Great News!

COMAIR RESUMES JHB-VFA DIRECT FLIGHT

In a renewed show of confidence in Victoria Falls as a tourist destination, British Airways Franchisee Comair has resumed direct flights from Johannesburg into the tourism city today.
The airline had suspended the flight in March 2020 as a response to the complication brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, however buoyed by an overwhelming response by residents of the town, Victoria Falls City became the first in the region to achieve the much coveted herd immunity against the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
This points to positive prospects for the country`s tourism industry, which is one of the biggest foreign currency earners

And with this resumption, kindly take note that tickets will be as cheap as US$192 return to Johannesburg. So take the opportunity to experience the Hospitality of BA/Comair,” said Comair in a statement, which included a detailed introductory flight schedule. The airline is targeting June 1 2021 as a day for return of daily flights between the two cities.
Tourism players welcomed the development saying the resurgence of the tourism industry is now in full speed.

12/05/2021

Today Honorable Minister N.M Ndlovu launched the National Fire Week at Gwebi Agricultural College under the theme "Veld Fires & Food Security - Protect the Harvest". This is an anual program held every second week of the month of May. The veld fire season runs from 31 July through to 31 October each year which coincides with #Zimbabwe's tourism high season. Curbing of veld fires is critical in safeguarding our pristine wildlife & nature upon which our tourism thrives.
In his address Hon. Minister N.M Ndlovu reiterated that the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry will reach out to all stakeholders so that everyone understands the message on the prevention of #veldfires. In support of the theme, "Veld fires and food security-Protect the haverst", the ZTA is currently promoting Agro-tourism which complements the Ministry's and Government's efforts in sustainable food security programs. "We should be cognizant of the environmental factors that dominate our landscapes, veld fires have become an issue of national concern given their destructive nature. Each year the country loses millions of hectares of forests & grasslands depriving livestock & wildlife of pastures" said Minister Ndlovu.
The Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Honorable Mary Mliswa Chikoka reiterated that the war against veld fires must be won at all costs. Mashonaland West is among the provinces most affected by veld fires.
