"We were honoured to host two incredible women from the Akashinga anti-poaching team at our stand! 🌟 These brave women are breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings in conservation. Akashinga, meaning 'The Brave Ones' in Shona, is an all-female unit reducing elephant poaching by 90% in the Lower Zambezi Valley. 👏

Trained in wildlife conservation, combat, and community engagement, they're empowering women and protecting wildlife. Watch as they share their inspiring stories! đź’Ş "

PRESS STATEMENT: Celebrating Zimbabwe at 46 🇿🇼

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission joins the nation in commemorating 46 years of independence under the theme: _“Zim@46 — Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030.”_

At 46, we reaffirm that gender equality is not optional. It is a mandatory cornerstone of unity, peace, and development. A gender-equal Zimbabwe is a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous nation.

In this statement, we reflect on 46 years of progress anchored in the 2013 Constitution, highlight our work through evidence-based advocacy like the National Inquiry into Child Marriages, and call for renewed investment in gender equality programmes, inclusive participation, and community engagement as we advance NDS2 and Vision 2030.

Persistent challenges remain — including GBV, unequal economic opportunities, and limited representation of women in decision-making. Sustained, coordinated action is critical.
