We are excited to have taken part in the launch of the Joint 2026 National Fire Week and Integrated Fire Management Project Launch at Goromonzi High School in Mashonaland East.

The campaign was officially launched by Honourable Vice President Dr. K. C. D. Mohadi under the theme: “Prevent, Protect, Preserve: Combating Veld Fires Together.”

The Forestry Commission led the planting of a Red Mahogany (Muwawa) tree by the Honourable Vice President and other senior government officials. We also exhibited some of the equipment and initiatives being implemented to help prevent veld fires and protect Zimbabwe’s forests and environment.

Today, we join the world in commemorating the International Day of Plant Health under the theme: Plant Biosecurity for Food Security and Nutrition.

The International Day of Plant Health raises global awareness on the importance of protecting plant health to help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect biodiversity and the environment, and boost economic development.

Did you know?
98% of the oxygen we breathe comes from plants
80% of the food we eat is provided by plants

Yet every year, pests and diseases destroy up to 40% of crops globally, threatening food security, farmers’ livelihoods and ecosystems.

Plant biosecurity plays a critical role in preventing the spread of harmful pests and diseases, safeguarding agriculture, biodiversity and international trade.

Protecting plants is everyone’s responsibility. Protecting plants means protecting life.

Happy Mother’s Day💚

Today, we celebrate the women who gave us life, nurtured us, sacrificed for us, prayed for us in silence, and loved us unconditionally.

Just like forests sustain life, mothers nurture generations with strength, care and resilience. We honour every mother and mother figure whose love continues to shape families, communities and our future.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers today and always.
