MARONDERA DISTRICT INTENSIFIES AWARENESS ON VELDT FIRES.

With the fire season fast approaching Marondera RDC, EMA, the Forestry Commission and concerned stakeholders have intensified efforts to raise awareness amongst commercial, resettlement and rural farming communities. The district is resorting to bulk sms, fliers, social media, MRDC website, awareness meetings, fire prevention and fighting demonstrations.

On Wednesday the District fire committee conducted an awareness meeting at Karimba Primary School. Key messages were on pre- suppression, spression and post-suppression measures in cases of veldt fires. The team assisted to reconstitute the local fire fighting teams and checked on overall readiness for the fire season.

🏛️ DRIVING INFRASTRUCTURE AND SERVICE DELIVERY IN MARONDERA RURAL DISTRICT! 🇿🇼Marondera Rural District Council (MRDC) convened a Special Council Meeting today to deliberate on key strategic matters aimed at enhancing service delivery and infrastructure development within our district.During the session, Council officially approved the change of financier for the proposed acquisition of critical service delivery and infrastructure equipment. This massive investment includes:🚚 Tippers & a Motor Grader💧 Water Bowsers & Borehole Drilling Rigs🗑️ Refuse Compactors🚑 Ambulances🚜 Front-End LoadersThis strategic investment will significantly strengthen road maintenance, waste management, water provision, and emergency response services across all our wards. ⚙️ STRENGTHENING FISCAL CONTROLS: MARONDERA RDC FINANCE COMMITTEE FOCUSES ON COMPLIANCE AND TRANSPARENCY💼 Session update. The Finance Committee convened today for Meeting 5/2026 to review the district's financial systems and regulatory compliance.📈 Upholding high standards. Benchmarked against its record as one of the few local authorities out of 92 in Zimbabwe to historically secure clean audit opinions, council focuses heavily on tightening internal controls.🤝 Leadership at the helm. The meeting was chaired by Committee Vice Chairperson Mr F. Chirara, with Council Chairman Mr J. Gwanzura attending ex-officio.👥 Management presence. CEO Mr T. Gundo and Director of Finance Mr R. Marondera Rural District Council also attended as a key stakeholder the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MOPSE) Marondera District “Not in My Village Launch – Ending Violence in Schools” campaign which was held at Mahusekwa Government School. The campaign is a MOPSE initiative aimed at promoting safe, secure and protective learning environments in schools.
The event was attended by the Provincial Education Director, Madam Ncube, who was the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries present included Chief Chihota, Chief Mudzimurema, the District Schools Inspector, Ward 11 and Ward 16 Councillors, representatives from various Government Departments, Nyaradzo, Proton, the National AIDS Council and ZICHIRE.
In her remarks, Madam Ncube emphasized the critical role of traditional leaders in ensuring that all forms of violence in schools are eliminated within their areas of jurisdiction. She encouraged communities, parents, schools and stakeholders to work together in safeguarding children and promoting a culture of peace, respect and protection in schools.
The campaign also provided an important platform for stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment towards ending violence against children and creating conducive environments for effective teaching and learning. Below are pictures of the event
