On Friday 11 September, 2026, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s English as a Second Language Programme at the Golden Grove Primary School received an assortment of materials and devices to boost teaching and learning.

The ICT devices were procured under the Enhancing Learning Continuity and Resiliency Project, which was implemented through a loan agreement between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the Caribbean Development Bank. The project was designed to address learning deficiencies among the most vulnerable students within the school population and to support improved educational outcomes. The English as a Second Language (ESL) Pilot Programme aligns with the objectives of the project and falls within its scope of support.

The programme began on 5 March 2026 at the Golden Grove Primary School to provide intervention for those students whose first Language is Spanish. Currently, 32 students are receiving the intervention which is designed to provide them with the language skills to achieve academic success as well as intercultural support to ensure effective integration into the society. The Ministry of Education is committed to providing equal opportunities for the success of all students.

As a new academic year begins and a new generation of learners embarks on its educational journey, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology pauses to remember the enduring impact of a man who understood that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives, Mr. Vincent Parker.

Though he is no longer with us, his influence lives on in the achievements of his former students, the respect of his colleagues, and the values he imparted throughout his years of service.

He taught. He inspired. He served.

May his legacy continue to remind us of the profound difference one educator can make, and may his memory remain a blessing to all whose lives he touched.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology extends sincere condolences to the family, friends, former colleagues, and students of Mr. Vincent Parker. May his soul rest in perpetual peace. 🕊️

🔹 Dr. Beverly Allen, Assistant Director of Education, Core Curriculum - Focus will be on the implementation of the new Digital OECS Harmonized Primary Curriculum.

🔹 Dr. Orna David, Education Officer, Mathematics - Focus will be on improving Mathematics performance across the basic education system (primary and secondary schools).

🔹 Mrs. Jessie Purcell, Education Officer, Special Projects - Focus will be on the school improvement plan through the CDB Education Enhancement and Quality Improvement Project (EEQuIP) for the four project schools to be refurbished/expanded.
