Raising awareness of Lismore s Children’s Hospital - pre & post natal care facilities .

We were there ! Sloane & Dad showed how it’s done - galloping all 4kms ! I was lucky to catch them up briefly for a run alongside the steady two

We will exhibit at the Lands Council.
All children who made a “ hand “ are welcome to pick up .

We are in it in the Northern Rivers … children prefer grasses , soil , sand & pebbles over concrete because as one 4 year old once said “ When you fall over on concrete it hurts ! “

We are Nature! How wonderful.

At Bentley we all wash our hands as part of our arrival rituals … bubbles on hands then bubbles in the air with our Ed Leader Lee-Anne 🧼💭🫧

❄️🧼Let’s make hand hygiene fun for little ones with soap experiments, stories and handwashing songs. 🎶📚🫧

🤧Teach children to use tissues and cough or sneeze into their elbow. Small habits make a big difference!

We are exploring two materials linked closely to Country - sticks & fire !

The collection of sticks , the cultural understanding of fire and how fire sticks are significant materials found in Country are just some of our discussions with children .

Did you know…?

Cultural burning is an ancient Aboriginal practice of "cool burning" that uses controlled, low-intensity fires to heal the land, improve habitats for plants and animals, and prevent big bushfires.

This 60,000-year-old practice is also known as "fire-stick farming" and involves burning off dry undergrowth to encourage new native growth, clear the land for easier travel and hunting, and promote biodiversity.

Shirley is our vibrant four-year-old Wiradjuri kid from the serene Darkinjung Country on the NSW Central Coast. Through her engage letter or email subscription program, she takes children on a remarkable adventure as she learns about Country and culture.

Earthly Pedagogy moved into thinking with our “ Becoming Wordy … Worldly Pedagogy “ initially practicing with a new specked clay - yellow in hue !

“ Where did this soft butter yellow clay come from ?”
“ What does it do ?”
“ What do we do with what it does ?”

Highlight number 2 was Stefis visit . Stefi showed us the value of “ journaling” as an art practice for thinking deeply and planning .
So now we all went back to the drawing books to journal what we are drawn to in ideas , technique and meaning .

Highlight number 3: Thanks to preschool who catered one night with a yummy beesting cake treat thrown in ! We have had the best time sharing our connection to Country through clay making & now “ journalling “.
