“Earthly Pedagogy “ this term returns to Bentley Community Preschool with our “ Fairymount Community Preschool “ companions .

This Tuesday 9th of May we have the great fortune of playing with clay with Stefi Miriklis🏺.Stefi made this curious endearing piece “ @ Anthropocalypse”.

Our “ stuff “ is “‘sticking together !” so far ….. ! 😀

Usual times Thursday 4:30-6pm until end of Term 2.

“Earthly Pedagogy” resumes at Bentley Community Preschool on Thursday, 14th May, from 4:30pm-6pm. We will review clay preparation techniques using terracotta clay then practice pinch pots.

The theoretical frameworks remain focused on Donna Haraway’s “Living in Troubled Times”. The fired pieces from the end of Term 1 serve as a metaphor - beautifully sculpted and glazed, yet some survived while others underwent metamorphosis. Given that most pots broke during firing, we can ask:

What happens when things crack and fall apart? Staying with the trouble, how can we proceed with this new knowledge?

Tuesday - Thursday : 8 am -3:30pm : Program with children and families .

Diploma Educator - Paola Maher : Tuesday - Thursday
9:30am-3:30pm- Program with children & families .

📖Bookkeeper - Sue Train
Tuesday 8:30 - 3:30pm

Director & Nominated Supervisor - Nicole Caves

💻Monday - administration & meeting -work from home .
Tuesday - Thursday - a flexible mix of working with families & children alongside administrative role.

Term 2 starts Week 3 Thursday 4:30-6pm .( flyer says Week 2 but I will be away ) .

Term 2 we have ceramist from Lismore, Stefi visiting to demonstrate joining techniques . ( Pun not intended 😂)She wants to join us in creative discussions 🙂🤯. She made the delightful plate “Anthroapocolypse! “

Our end of year celebration was really cool … it stretched over a good 2 hours , well attended and full of yummy treats !

Thank you to our community of extended families & families who shared jokes about wild animals , listened to sweet singing by the children and applauded our young ones who are heading out & into the wild & wondeful world of primary school !

The patience taken to create then plant our special ceramic hands in the “ Sea of Hands “ ceremony was quiet & purposeful !

The decision making and consideration of choices in each childs fragrant sculptures / figurines (- imagine peppermint , eucalyptus sculptures gift wrapped in funky tapes and ribboned boxes 🎵✅) was carefully created to take home and share 💕🏡

We are saying , “ Yes” to all children thriving locally & in our Nation
