UPDATE: We are waiting for NBN technicians to arrive. Staff continue to monitor our water supply and quality during this interruption.

As we wrap up Local Government Week, we're recognising the team behind the scenes who help shape the future of CTW.

Today we're recognising our Technical Services team.

The Technical Services team provides the engineering and technical expertise that supports the planning, design and delivery of our water infrastructure. From managing projects and asset planning, to providing technical advice and supporting the operation of our network, their work helps ensure CTW continues to provide reliable, quality water for the communities we serve.

Throughout Local Government Week, we've been proud to showcase the dedicated people who keep CTW running, from our Administration Team; Grenfell, Blayney, and Canowindra Network teams; Blayney and Carcoar Water Treatment Plant teams, and now our Technical Services team. Every role plays an important part in delivering the essential water services our communities rely on every day.

Business email compromise (BEC) occurs when cyber criminals use email to take advantage of normal business processes to steal money, goods or information from organisations.

Criminals may access email conversations or legitimate invoices and quietly change payment details. In other cases, they pretend to be a trusted organisation or colleague and send fake requests. These scams commonly involve:

·Impersonation: Pretending to be a supplier, contractor, colleague, or senior leader to request payments or place fake orders. They may follow up with text messages or phone calls to make the request feel urgent and real. To make matters worse, AI is making these messages more convincing.

·Fake payment or information requests: Asking you to transfer funds, change bank details, or share sensitive information such as login or supplier details.

·Email or SMS spoofing: Messages that appear to come from a trusted name or address but are actually sent by criminals.

·Targeted attacks: Using information from social media to target people with access to financial or sensitive systems. Keeping privacy settings up to date and sharing less online can reduce this risk.

If a request feels unexpected, urgent, or out of character – pause. Check it through a trusted channel before acting.
