Beautiful wicker for yesterday’s natural burial at Walawaani Way.. a real celebration of her long and wonderful life. So many incredible flowers were delivered to Bodalla!

The first 100% natural conservation burial ground in Australia which will protect 18 hectares of forest ecosystem.

A smoking ceremony this week - starting at the most spectacular eucalyptus tree on the property, up to 350 years old. We named the tree after her, which was said to have brought a smile to her face the night before. She was too young for this burial ceremony to be called a celebration of life, not yet anyway. Brock from Yuin Nation wished her onto her continuing journey, not the beginning and not the end. A very grounding week which did bring me happiness that this place gave her happiness.

Yesterday we held our 13th natural burial… beautifully organised by Olivia Andrews from Funeral Commons with a wicker coffin and gorgeous natives. For the first time at Walawaani Way we had the lovely Father Josh from the Catholic Church who conducted a very meaningful ceremony for the family.

Quite a few Emus at Walawaani Way… filmed by Eliza as I was driving. There have been 17 or 18 chicks this year and two years ago they had 24 chicks! (poor guy, that’s a big job!)

So happy to be Finalist in the Eurobodalla Business Awards! We had a very fun table with those who have helped shaped Walawaani Way .. including my Dad who has always been there for me, husband Ben who has done the hard yakka building and amazing women and death doulas. This year we entered for Outstanding New Business and next year we’ll enter the Sustainability category :)
