From 1 July, customers can choose to access 3 hours of free power under the Solar Sharer Offer.

If you're considering the Solar Sharer Offer, there are some things you should know before making the commitment.

➡️ You can access the offer with or without having rooftop solar.
➡️ The 3 hours will be in the middle of the day when solar generation is at its peak.
➡️ Electricity may cost you more outside of these 3 hours.
➡️ There is a daily 'reasonable use' cap to the 3 hour period.

This offer is most suitable to customers who can take advantage of the savings by shifting most of their energy use to the 3 hour period. Since it's in the middle of the day, this might not be possible for some customers.

The Solar Sharer Offer is available to households with smart meters located in South East Queensland. Contact your energy provider to access the offer.

You've seen the headlines – power bill prices are coming down in South East Queensland. But that doesn't mean your power bill is guaranteed to get the price cut.

Every year the Australian Energy Regulator sets the Default Market Offer (DMO). The DMO is the maximum price electricity providers can charge to customers who are on a 'standing offer' contract. Under the 2026-27 DMO customers on standing offers will receive a price decrease from 1 July.

However, many customers are on 'market offer' contracts and not a standing offer. Market offer prices are set by each provider and are often cheaper, but can be more expensive, than the standing offer. Providers do not have to decrease the prices of these contracts like under the standing offer.

If you're unsure of what offer your energy plan uses, now is the time to check what it is and how it compares. We recommend using energymadeeasy.gov.au to compare energy offers from across the different providers in South East Queensland.
