How do you get warnings for bushfires, floods and other natural hazards?

Researchers from the University of Tasmania are in Broome this week as part of a national study about how people access hazards information and warnings. They’re running an information session at the Broome Library about their work, and offering everyone the chance to have their voice heard in this important national research.

Come and hear about the research, ask questions of the researchers, and then have the chance to sign up for an interview. No special knowledge is needed, and everyone who participates in an interview gets a $40 VISA gift card that can be used anywhere.

Women, Wellness and Weaving
Free weaving workshop, supper and information.
Join us for an evening of connection, creativity and women’s wellbeing. Enjoy a relaxed supper while learning about the National Cervical Screening Program and the importance of looking after your health through cervical screening. The evening will also include a free weaving workshop with Nancy, where you can yarn, create and connect with other women in the Broome community. Prizes and giveaways are available on the day.
No experience is needed for the weaving workshop — just come along, enjoy some food, learn something new and take some time for yourself.

Children's Book Week Visiting Author

Celebrate Children’s Book Week with visiting author Kelly Canby and enjoy a special opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s acclaimed children’s writers at this free public event.

Kelly is a Western Australian-based author and illustrator. Her books explore wonder, tenderness and the importance of ordinary moments.

Her books include A Leaf Called Greaf, Timeless, Fearless, The Hole Story, Littlelight, and Rodney.

Kelly has also illustrated a number of books for other authors.
