Shire of Broome President Chris Mitchell and Councillor Sean Cooper attended the Vietnam Veteransโ€™ Day memorial service this morning at Bedford Park, joining veterans, families and community members in honouring those who served during the Vietnam War.

This year marks 60 years since the Battle of Long Tan. We honour the Australians who lost their lives during the conflict and acknowledge the many veterans who returned home carrying the enduring impacts of their service.

The service provided an opportunity to recognise the courage, sacrifice and service of Vietnam veterans, and to reflect on the legacy of their contribution.

We thank Craig Bruhn, President of the Broome RSL Sub-Branch, for hosting this important commemoration, and all who attended to pay their respects.

Lest we forget.

๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒฟ A fresh look for a favourite spot coming soon

The area in front of Cable Beach House has long been one of Broome's favourite places to gather for sunsets, picnics and catching up with friends.

Through the Walmanyjun Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment, that much-loved space is being reimagined to make it even more welcoming for the community.

The completed area will feature lawn, local Kimberley stone, newly planted trees to grow the future canopy, and a new lookout that takes advantage of the incredible views. Existing palms have also been retained wherever possible, helping maintain the familiar tropical feel that locals and visitors know and love.

As the landscape matures over time, the result will be more natural shade, more opportunities to gather, and more room to enjoy Broome's world-famous sunsets.
