Happy National First Responders Day from the 256 crew 👮🏻‍♀️🚑🏥

Shout out to our Ambulance crews for carrying all the gear and somehow still beating us to the 2am calls, and to our Police mates for directing traffic around our perfectly parked fire trucks and keeping the paperwork industry alive 📒

Lots of love to our RFS and SES friends too!

All jokes aside, we're lucky to work alongside such dedicated professionals. Thanks to all first responders for what you do every day

A few weeks ago, we said farewell to Deputy Captain (Acting Captain) Huw Bone as he moved on to his next adventure.

After more than 12 years in Cobar and 7 years with the Cobar crew, Huw has been a valued member of our station and community. During that time, he served several years as Deputy Captain and more recently stepped into the role of Acting Captain, providing steady leadership, support, and plenty of memorable moments along the way.

Whether it was on the fireground, around the station, or during the many hours spent training, Huw was always willing to lend a hand, share his experience, and keep the crew entertained with plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you for all the laughs, the hard work, and the countless stories. As has already been pointed out by more than a few people, food around the station is now considerably safer with Huw no longer around to "sample" it before everyone else gets a chance!

On behalf of the crew, we wish you all the very best for the future and whatever comes next. Thirroul station doesn't know what's coming!

A bit of fun at training this week with the 256 crew, running through Mayday drag drills 💪🏻

These exercises focus on safely dragging a firefighter to safety and quickly removing their gear so first aid can begin as soon as possible. A great way to sharpen our skills, stay prepared, and squeeze in a solid workout - while also getting the chance to drag our mates around the station floor!

Today is St Florian’s Day, also known as International Firefighters' Day.🚒🔥

St Florian’s Day is a time to recognise the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of firefighters here in Cobar and around the world. Whether it’s responding to emergencies, protecting lives and property, or supporting our community in times of need, we stand proud to serve.

We also take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Stay safe, look after one another, and thank you for your continued support!

Our annual Open Day is back, and this year we’re bringing it to you!

Join us at the Cobar Show on Saturday, 16th May 👩🏻‍🚒🚒

Come and meet the crew, check out the truck, and have a chat. We’ll be sharing helpful fire safety tips (the kind worth knowing) along with plenty of good vibes 🤙🏻

You’ll find us in the emergency services area, near the netball courts.

🐰🚒 Happy Easter from your local crew! 🐣🔥

Whether you’re chasing chocolate, wrangling kids, or firing up the BBQ, we hope you have a cracking long weekend with family and friends.

If you’re heading to the Royal Easter Show, make sure you swing past the Fire and Rescue NSW display, plenty of hands-on activities, demos, and a good chance to chat with crews about staying safe.

Quick reminder while you’re enjoying it:
🔥 Keep an eye on BBQs and don’t leave them unattended
🔥 Check your smoke alarms are working (takes 10 seconds, saves lives)
🔥 And maybe don’t hide Easter eggs inside the toaster… we’ve seen things 😅

Stay safe, enjoy the break, and go easy on the chocolate (or don’t, we’re not judging).

⛽ A quick fuel safety reminder⛽

With the current fuel issues around the region, we know some people may be buying extra fuel to store at home.

If you do, please make sure you're using a proper approved fuel container. Fuel should never be stored in drink bottles, jars, or other household containers, as they can leak, build pressure, or generate static.

Fuel containers designed for petrol or diesel help prevent spills, fumes, and accidents- and storing it in bulk may even void your home and contents insurance!

Thanks for doing your part to keep your household and our community safe. 🔥

Today we’re celebrating the amazing women who are part of our brigade here at Cobar Fire Station. We’re proud to have five incredible female firefighters on our team 👩‍🚒💪

These legends bring dedication, teamwork, and a whole lot of strength to the station and our community. Whether it’s training, responding to incidents, or supporting the crew, they are always ready to step up when it matters most.

Thank you for everything you do for Cobar and the brigade, we’re lucky to have you on the team! 🙌
