At the May Council meeting, the Cowra Sportsfield Master Plans were formally adopted — setting a long-term vision for upgrades across three key sporting precincts.

What does this mean?
The plans provide a roadmap for future improvements, allowing Council to move toward detailed design, staging and funding opportunities over the coming years.

These upgrades will largely be delivered through external grant funding. A recent example of this in action is the Play Our Way - Australian Government funding, which is already helping deliver improvements aligned with the Master Plans at West Cowra Recreational Ground and Mulyan Park.

Council will continue to seek funding opportunities and keep the community informed as projects progress. At this stage, the master plans are guiding documents only, and no construction timelines have been confirmed.

📍 West Cowra Recreational Ground
A major upgrade focused on creating a central, modern sporting hub:
• New grandstand to replace the existing structure, improving accessibility and compliance
• Removal of outdated greyhound infrastructure
• Spaces designed to support a wider range of uses, including events and community markets

📍 Edgell Park
A streamlined, practical upgrade tailored to current use:
• New amenities building within a similar footprint to improve functionality
• Consolidated and more efficient storage areas
• Improved accessibility, visibility and safety

📍 Mulyan Park
Upgrades to support AFL and growing participation:
• Increased number of change rooms to support multiple teams and female participation
• New kiosk, storage and accessible amenities
• Larger covered area on building to improve the public use of the facilities and viewing of the sporting field.

Across all sites, the plans focus on:
• Accessible and inclusive design
• Safer, more connected spaces
• Durable, low-maintenance and sustainable facilities
• Supporting growing participation in sport and community use

You can view the adopted Master Plans on Council’s website here:https://www.cowracouncil.com.au/files/assets/public/v/1/council/governance-and-transparency/council-plans-and-reports/25.05-cowra-sportsfield-masterplans-02.06.26-1.0-sk-cowra-spor.pdf

Adoption of the master plans is an important step forward, providing a clear pathway to deliver modern, fit-for-purpose sporting facilities for the Cowra community into the future.

Let’s all be good sorts and recycle right ♻️

Doing the right thing with your recycling makes a big difference for our community and the environment.

Pop the right items in your yellow lid bin, like paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, cartons, cans, and hard plastics (no lids).

And remember, some things don’t belong there—like plastic bags, coffee cups, nappies, garden waste, and household rubbish.

A quick check before you toss it helps keep recycling working for everyone 💛

Cowra Aquatic Centre Redevelopment Update 🏊‍♀️

There’s great progress happening onsite!

• Stage 1 piling works for the 50m lap pool and toddler pool have now been completed. Piling is the process of placing strong supports deep into the ground to help hold the pools steady and secure. We thank nearby residents for their patience while this work was underway.

• Stage 2 piling (for the filtration and concourse areas) will happen later in the project, with notice to be provided closer to the time.

• This week, piles are being trimmed to their final height, ready for the next stage of construction.

• Next week a drainage layer which helps prevent water from collecting under the pools
and reduces pressure on the pool structure will be laid.

• Week commencing 7 June: steelwork and formwork will begin for both pools.

Works are progressing well. Please note timeframes may shift slightly depending on weather and site conditions.
