Busy day at Moonah Primary School today! We were lucky enough to be treated to a skipping demonstration from the Waimea Wonders and students from Grade 1 to 6 received important messaging from the YouThinkUKnow eSafety Program.

Grade 1BC were lucky enough to have a visit from Bright Sparks, where we learnt all about electricity and the important role it plays in our everyday lives. We explored how electricity works and discussed the importance of using electricity safely at home and at school.

The students particularly enjoyed getting hands-on and trying on the safety equipment. They were challenged to complete a task while wearing two pairs of safety gloves, which proved to be much more difficult than expected! This was a great way for students to experience how electricians need to work carefully and safely when handling electrical equipment.

It was a fun and engaging visit, and the students enjoyed learning some important electrical safety messages along the way.

This week in Grade 3, we have been learning all about multiplication and division, with a particular focus on our 2 and 3 times tables. Students have been developing their understanding of multiplication as equal groups, as well as exploring how multiplication and division are connected.

To help reinforce this learning at home, families can practise saying or writing out the 2 and 3 times tables together. Even a few minutes of practice each day can help build confidence and fluency with multiplication facts.

Next week, we will be extending our learning by tackling the 4 and 5 times tables. We are looking forward to building on our multiplication skills and becoming even more confident mathematicians!

Prep T and Prep V had a fantastic time on their excursion to the MONA Library!

The classes took turns visiting the library and playing games together outside. Inside the library, students enjoyed exploring the children’s section, finding cosy little places to sit, looking through books and sharing stories with their friends. There was also plenty of interesting artwork to discover, which sparked lots of conversations and observations.

Our visit was a great way to cap off our Book Week celebrations and build on the students’ growing love of books and reading. It also linked nicely with our upcoming HASS learning about Features of Familiar Places, giving students the chance to explore the library and its surroundings and think about the different ways these spaces are used.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without spending some time on the MONA playground!

Prep T and Prep V did a fantastic job representing our school and should be very proud of the way they participated throughout the day. It was a fun and memorable first excursion!

Happy Father’s Day 💙

A beautiful afternoon celebrating all the incredible Dads, Pops and special adults in our students’ lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our Father’s Day lunch feel so warm and special.

Big shout out to our amazing School Lunch Program team - Jenae, Kate, Gaye and Caitlin - for serving up a delicious chicken casserole and keeping everything running smoothly 👏🍽️

Students from Prep-Grade 4 have been having lots of fun and developing their cricket skills with the CricketBlast lunchtime program the past two Thursdays. It has been a great experience so far with two more sessions still to come 🙂

This week 2/3 O’Dwyer students have been busy showcasing their creativity through their beautiful Eastern Rosella artworks! 🐦🎨
