🔥FIRE CALL | BUILDING FIRE | WAGGA🔥

, Lake Albert RFB & Yarragundry RFB were called to assist Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park & Fire and Rescue NSW Station 480 Wagga Wagga at a fire at the Kurrajong recycling facility in Chaston St.

Crews from both agencies worked collaboratively over a number of hours to extinguish a fire within the stored unsorted recycling materials on site.
Thankfully no major damage was sustained by the facility.

This is another example of the great working relationship the two fire agencies in working together for the benefit of the community

Whilst the cause of the fire is still being investigated, it is a timely reminder to please dispose of your waste correctly, and do not place batteries or vapes etc into your recycling.

🔥FIRE CALL | STRUCTURE FIRE | GLENFIELD PARK🔥

On Wednesday, along with Yarragundry RFB were called to assist Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 480 Wagga Wagga with a house fire in Glenfield.
Due to the hot and humid weather, we provided additional Breathing Apparatus crews, which allowed for regular rotation of fire attack and overhaul to help reduce the risk of heat related illnesses amongst those on scene.
Unfortunately the house was totally destroyed by fire, but all occupants were able to escape without major injuries.

⚡️FIRE CALL | POWER POLE ALIGHT | FOREST HILL⚡️

are currently on scene at a power pole alight in Forest Hill.
This is the cause of the wide spread power outage in the area.
Essential Energy are currently on scene and are working to restore power as soon as possible

🔥FIRE CALL | SCRAP YARD FIRE | ASHMONT🔥

responded along with numerous other NSW RFS - Riverina Zone brigades to assist Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 480 Wagga Wagga with a large fire in a metal scrap yard; that spread into the neighboring car wreckers and grass along the rail corridor.
A concerted effort from all agencies involved brought the incident under control after several hours in challenging conditions.

Jobs like this take more than just to deal with. We couldn't do it without the support of crews from NSW Ambulance and Riverina Police District working to ensure the welfare, health and safety of all involved.

A special shout out to Rapid Relief Team AU whose volunteers went out of their way to provide drinks, food and shelter for the many crews on scene.

The Eastern Riverina Weather District will be under a HIGH Fire Danger Rating with a TOTAL FIRE BAN in force on Sunday 25 January 2026.

This applies to the following LGAs:
📍Coolamon
📍Wagga Wagga
📍Lockhart
📍Junee

During a TOTAL FIRE BAN you must not:
❌Light, maintain or use a fire in the open
❌Carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire
❌Undertake general purpose hot works, including welding, grinding, gas cutting, or any activity that produces a spark or flame in the open

Please take conditions seriously and do your part to prevent fires.

Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast, significantly increasing fire danger across the area.

🎅FOREST HILL GET READY, SANTA IS ALMOST HERE 🎅

Our crews are busy putting the final touches on Santa’s ride for his tour around Forest Hill.
Despite the weather, he is still keen to visit all the families here!
A little bit of rain won’t hold him back, but if the severe storms ⛈️ that are potentially forecast manifest, we may have to stop the Santa Run. We will update this post if it happens.

🔥FIRE CALL | BUSH FIRE | WILLANS HILL RESERVE🔥

along with Lake Albert RFB, Yarragundry RFB, NSW RFS - Uranquinty Brigade and Rural Fire Brigade were responded to assist Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 480 Wagga Wagga with a bush fire in the Willans HIll Reserve.

Both agencies worked together in difficult steep terrain and warm windy conditions to protect properties while containing and extinguishing the fire.

We thank the public for their patience and understanding while we had various roads closed to allow our crews to work in safety.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions today, Saturday 6 December, landholders undertaking harvest operations in the Coolamon, Junee, Lockhart, Wagga Wagga LGAs are advised to stop and check local weather conditions against the Grain Harvest Guide before deciding to continue.
