Have your say on Council’s future priorities

Kangaroo Island Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Annual Business Plan 2026-2027.

This is your opportunity to help shape the services, projects and priorities that matter most to our Island community. Whether it is roads, waste services, community facilities, environmental initiatives or support for tourism and local business, your input plays a vital role in guiding Council’s decision-making.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

The new system will be tested Monday, 27 July @ 1.30pm. Mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert, which will include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one concern, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

🚗 Pay-by-phone parking coming soon

You’ll soon be able to pay in Council paid parking areas using your mobile phone.

In the coming weeks signs with QR codes will go up at paid parking areas at the airport and North Terrace and Bay Terrace Penneshaw – simply scan the QR code, select how long you’ll be parking, enter your licence plate details and then pay securely with your phone! Easy – no app required.

You’ll still have the option to buy a ticket via the ticket machines if you’d prefer, however we know the machines are often not reliable. Paying with your mobile phone should make it much easier.

If you have trouble paying via your mobile phone, you can email [email protected] or alternatively call Council on 8553 4500 and pay over the phone with our Customer Service Team (during business hours).
