🚧IMPORTANT UPDATE: UPCOMING WORKS AT PARNDANA PLAYGROUND 🛝

Please be advised the Council will be conducting works at the Parndana Playground between Tuesday, 30 June and Thursday, 2 July (weather permitting). Our team will be extending the playground border, relocating existing seating and adding extra seating.

During this time:
👉The public toilet and medical clinic will be accessible
👉The rest of the playground will be off limits to the public

📣NOMINATIONS CLOSE SUNDAY! 2026 YOUNG ACHIEVER OF THE YEAR
Kangaroo Island Council is proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of our local youth. The Young Achiever of the Year Award celebrates young people who are making a difference in areas such as volunteering, sport, education, science, culture, the arts and the environment.

We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate leadership, dedication and community spirit – those who are inspiring others and helping shape the future of our Island.

Nominations are now open until 5pm Sunday, 28 June 2026. Nominees must be aged 12 to 25 years as of 27 July 2026 and be a resident of Kangaroo Island.

Have you got your 2026-2027 bin collection calendar yet??!

♻💻 🌿 2026-2027 bin collection calendars out now

👍 In 2025, the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA), with Alexandrina, Kangaroo Island Council and City of Victor Harbor took a big step forward by transitioning to a more environmentally friendly and user-focused way of sharing our bin collection calendars. This financial year, we also welcome the District Council of Yankalilla on board.

❌ Instead of automatically delivering printed calendars to every household, we’ll be focusing on digital distribution. This change helps reduce waste from unused calendars and supports better recycling practices, especially since magnets attached to calendars can prevent proper recycling if not removed. The change also aligns with other SA Councils, many of which have not delivered printed calendars for several years.

🧲 We understand that some residents still prefer a printed version, so we’ve made sure those are still available—just bring your magnet to reuse it!

👀 Here’s how you can access your calendar:

♻ Download the My Local Services App for weekly bin reminders (currently not provided by the City of Victor Harbor).
♻ Save a PDF or screenshot of your collection calendar from the FRWA website. Our new address-specific calendars are simpler and clearer, showing only the collection days that matter to you. You can still download the Council-wide calendar version if you prefer.
♻ Pick up a printed copy from your local Council office or FRWA Waste and Recycling Depot.
♻ Request a printed calendar to be mailed to you. Fill out the form at the end of the FRWA collection calendars web page, or call our team on 8555 2467 (Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.00 pm).

🚨Dogs and cat registration renewals are due soon! 🚨

Owning a pet comes with many benefits, but also some legal responsibilities:
👉Every dog and cat over 3 months old must be registered.
👉Registrations are due every year between 1 July and 31 August. 👉All dogs and cats over 3 months old are due for renewal regardless of when they were last registered.
👉You will receive a registration renewal notice in July via your preferred contact method associated with each animal.

🗣️Dogs and Cats Online is currently unavailable while system upgrades are underway.

In the meantime, contact Council for all dog and cat registration matters. 🐶🐱

In this interactive perfume-making workshop, you’ll explore the art of scent blending and design a signature fragrance that is uniquely yours.
