Friending Staff on Facebook

Please note that the Department of Education and Communities has this advice for teachers 'Friending' parents on Facebook:

The line between your professional and personal life could become blurred making it difficult to manage your professional relationship with the parents when that becomes necessary. You also need to bear in mind that becoming a Facebook friend with a parent could result in their children getting access to your account as well. You also need to be mindful that you need to be careful what you say on Facebook if you have parents as friends as comments made online can be misunderstood and could result in parental complaints made to your principal. In short, please do not ask to friend a member of staff on Facebook as refusal often offends.

Today our Run Beyond students take on the 10km run at the Dubbo Stampede! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

This is one of the moments they’ve been training for — but the 10km is about so much more than the distance.

Over the weeks of The Run Beyond Project, our students have built mindset, resilience, dedication, confidence and determination. They’ve pushed through the tough sessions, turned up when it was challenging, supported each other and kept working towards a goal.

Every training session, every kilometre and every moment they chose to keep going has brought them to today. 💪❤️

We couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout this journey!

Stage 2 students have had an unforgettable adventure at Lake Burrendong!

From exciting BMX rides and laser tag battles to grass skiing, pedal kart racing, team sports, and peaceful morning walks, there was never a dull moment.

They got hands-on experience building stick houses, adding paper and learning how to start a fire safely, and cooking their own damper with honey around the campfire.

Before heading back to Lightning Ridge today, they celebrated a special birthday for Lucy.

What an incredible trip full of learning and fun!

The ETA back to LRCS is now 5:00pm! Further updates will be posted below if this changes.

Our K1P students had an incredible experience at Carinya Station Farm Stay this week. As part of their Industry Experience excursion, students explored a range of roles in agriculture and tourism industries for future pathways learning.

They enjoyed holding chooks and goats, seen how wool is sorted in the shearing shed, and visited the pigs in their pen. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm as they learned about farm life and the many opportunities these industries offer.

Thank you to Carinya Station for welcoming our students and inspiring their learning!

🌿 After an early start, our Stage 2 students have arrived safely at Lake Burrendong!

They enjoyed a lovely lunch stop at the beautiful Wellington Osawano Japanese Gardens, before diving straight into the Outdoor Education Program with some thrilling BMX riding once they arrived at Lake Burrendong.

We look forward to hearing all about their adventures over the next couple of nights!

Join us next Thursday 10th September for R U OK? Day! Show your support by wearing yellow, and help highlight the importance of conversation within our school community!

All donations will be directed to the R U OK? su***de prevention charity, supporting efforts to help us recognise signs of mental health challenges in friends, family, and colleagues.

It's important to remind everyone that every day is a day to ask 'are you OK? ' and start a meaningful conversation with someone you notice might be struggling with life. A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week!
