A little look back at last week's Indigenous Business Month networking event!

The theme for Indigenous Business Month 2026 was Local and Connected, and that's exactly what the evening was all about.

We joined forces with The Local Link Mackay, Many Rivers and our event partners, Local Buying Foundation, for a relaxed evening of conversation and connection.

It was fantastic to meet some new Indigenous business owners, hear about their journeys and celebrate their successes, with some familiar faces from our Chamber family joining us too!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a lovely one. We're looking forward to continuing these connections and building on the event in 2027!

Mackay Region Chamber | Celebrate Success

What a way to kick off a busy week for our Chamber committee, who were out in force supporting the Mackay Hospital Foundation's Giving Day!

And what a day it was! The Foundation has raised more than $105,000, with our local community once again showing just how generous it can be.

We had a chat with Ashleen O'Neill, who has recently stepped into the GM role, and she said she's constantly amazed by the way this community shows up. And looking around at the crowd on the day, we couldn't agree more!

A massive congratulations to Ashleen and the whole Mackay Hospital Foundation team, and to every business, volunteer and community member who got behind them.

Mackay Region Chamber | Celebrate Success

What a fantastic day celebrating First Nations business in the Mackay region!

Yesterday's First Nations Business Expo was buzzing, with so many incredible businesses showcasing what they do, plenty of networking, exciting collaborations in the making and an excellent panel discussion.

It was especially great to see Indigenous students getting involved and connecting with local businesses. So much talent, opportunity and innovation right here in our region!

A huge congratulations to the organising working group, including our very own Maree Sturdy, for bringing it all together. This event just keeps getting bigger and better!

If you missed it this year, make sure it's on your calendar for next year. You won't want to miss it!

Avengers, assemble! 💥

Our new Chamber committee gathered for their official photo yesterday, with our beloved photographer Fi from Coffee and Hops behind the camera, who OF COURSE managed to find a grassy knoll for us to pose on. 😂📸

No time to ease into things either! We've hit the ground running with a huge few weeks of events ahead, and this crew is already getting stuck in.

Watch this space to fin d out where we will all pop up!

We pride ourselves on delivering a decidedly unboring AGM, but we're still blown away when we sell out a room for one!

We love sharing our stories, we're proud of what we've achieved, and we're always looking at what more we can do.

Of course, none of it happens without the incredible, engaged business community we're privileged to call our members, and our friends. You're such a big part of the Chamber's story, and we're grateful to have you along for the ride.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our committee election and had a say in the Chamber's future governance. A special thank you to every candidate who put their hand up, and congratulations to our newly elected committee!

Now, enjoy the photos! 📸
