Mackay Region Chamber | Celebrate Success

Congratulations to On Point Eyecare Mackay on the success of The Framed Affair: The Art of Eyewear. (Ok, I know it was a while ago - we've been busy!)

The evening showcased a stunning collection of premium designer eyewear, but more importantly, it brought people together to celebrate style, craftsmanship, confidence and connection.

We're proud to see local businesses creating unique experiences, backing themselves and bringing something special to our region.

And of course, Chamber President Geoff O'Connor was there to witness the magic... and make sure he made it into at least one photo.

Congratulations to the entire On Point Eyecare team on a fantastic event!

Mackay Region Chamber | Celebrate Success (Ours!)

Small Business Month? Completed it. โœ…

What a month it was.

We kicked things off by launching the Small Business Action Plan alongside Mackay Regional Council, hosted our sold-out Adapt or Die luncheon to help businesses get future ready, and shone a spotlight on some of the incredible small businesses that make our region tick.

We joined Council for a Buyer Supplier event, launched Pizza for a Purpose with our friends at Grapevine and Laffos, shared plenty of coffees, conversations and connections at B2B Brews, and yes... there may have been some Disney ears involved along the way. ๐Ÿญโ˜•

Then, just when we thought we'd packed enough into one month, we wrapped it all up in style at the Best in Business Awards, celebrating the people and businesses doing remarkable things across our region.

To everyone who attended an event, shared a story, partnered with us, sponsored, volunteered, nominated, judged, cheered from the sidelines or simply backed local business this month, thank you.

We're a little tired. We're incredibly proud.

And we're already looking forward to doing it all again next year. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’œ May was Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

Throughout the month, we joined our community in helping raise awareness, encouraging conversations, and reinforcing a simple but powerful message: violence and abuse have no place in our homes, workplaces, or communities.

Our team was proud to take part in the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention March alongside many other local organisations, businesses, advocates and community members committed to driving change.

Domestic and family violence affects people from all walks of life. Creating a safer, more respectful community is everyone's responsibility.

A big thank you to the organisers, volunteers, support services and all those who continue to advocate, educate and support those impacted by domestic and family violence.

๐Ÿ’œ Respect. It's where every healthy relationship begins.

Mackay Region Chamber | Advocacy in Action

This morning, we joined fellow chambers and business representatives from across Queensland for a roundtable with friend of the Chamber Small Business Commissioner's office as we wrapped up another fantastic Small Business Month.

It was great to hear how different regions celebrated, shared ideas, and supported their local business communities throughout May.

A representative from the Minister for Small Business's office was also in attendance and highlighted the Queensland Government's Secure Communities Partnership Program. With a number of local businesses recently impacted by crime, we encourage anyone affected to take a look at this funding opportunity and consider how it could help strengthen the security of their business.

Eligible small and family businesses may be able to access matched funding of between $5,000 and $20,000 for security upgrades such as CCTV, alarms, lighting, access control systems and other crime prevention measures. Applications close 30 June 2026, unless funding is exhausted earlier.

We've also got a few more interesting tidbits and updates from the roundtable to share over the coming days, so stay tuned!

๐Ÿ”ฆ SPOTLIGHT ON SMALL BUSINESS ๐Ÿงฝ๐Ÿงน Tailored Services Pty Ltd

As part of Queensland Small Business Month, weโ€™re proud to be sharing the stories of local small businesses across our region through the Spotlight on Small Business campaign.

This week, weโ€™re highlighting Tailored Services Pty Ltd, a family run commercial cleaning and maintenance business servicing the Mackay region.
Established in 2017, Tailored Services focuses on long term relationships, reliability and tailored solutions โ€” working closely with commercial and education clients to deliver quality outcomes, not just cleaning services.

๐Ÿ’ก Future Ready:
By investing in biodegradable and plant based products, water saving technology and continuous improvement, Tailored Services is building a sustainable business model that supports local jobs and long term growth.

Mackay Region Chamber | Powered by Volunteers

One thing a lot of people donโ€™t realise about the Chamber?
Our committee is entirely volunteer-run.

Last week was National Volunteer Week, and while we might be slightly late to the party, we could never miss the chance to say thank you to the incredible Mackay Region Chamber committee.

Behind every event, advocacy meeting, business connection, early morning coffee setup, big idea and โ€œquick questionโ€ emailโ€ฆ is a group of volunteers giving their time, energy and expertise to back our local business community.

They do it between meetings, after hours, before work, during lunch breaks & we are so grateful!

Not all heroes wear Capes... Oh wait.
