CAREERS @ COUNCIL | Meet Coopah

A Molong local with a passion for lawn and garden maintenance, Coopah started his career with Cabonne Council as a Town Presentation Apprentice in 2023, after completing year 10 at Molong Central School. Alongside undertaking his Certificate III in Parks and Gardens Coopah has completed a range of training courses including Chainsaw Operations, Excavator Operations and a truck licence upgrade, among others.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Coopah has contributed to several exciting local projects, including the Bank Street Beautification and the Canowindra Swinging Bridge Project. His work on these projects has involved everything from garden preparation through to irrigation, planting, and landscaping.

One of the things Coopah enjoys most about his role is working as part of a supportive, hardworking team. He values the camaraderie and the opportunity to learn from those around him.

At the end of 2025, Coopah was successful in securing the role of Town Beautification Officer. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow his career with Council, where he proudly shares that one day, he hopes to become the General Manager!

A section of Canowindra Road between Canowindra and Cudal had its speed limit reduced to 80 km/h from 1 June following a Transport for NSW safety review.

As a result, the limit was lowered from 300 metres north of Nanami Lane to 2.32 kilometres south of Toogong Road, a change that better aligned with surrounding speed environments and aimed to reduce crash severity while maintaining traffic flow.

Community members are encouraged to sign up for updates, request reviews in their area and provide feedback on local speed limits.

HAVE YOUR SAY | DRAFT Voluntary Planning Agreement Policy

Council has developed a draft Voluntary Planning Agreements Policy to provide a clear, consistent framework for negotiating and managing planning agreements amid increasing requests from developers. Guided by legislative requirements, the policy sets high-level principles to ensure agreements are voluntary, transparent, equitable, and deliver genuine public benefit without compromising planning integrity. It aims to support good governance while allowing flexibility for more detailed procedures in future.

This document is now available for viewing via Council's Have Your Say page and website.
