Congratulations to one of our fantastic Hill End Brigade members! 🎉🔥

A huge shoutout to Hill End resident and brigade member Jeannie Littlewood. This weekend Jean is undertaking the Crew Safety and Welfare unit as part of the RFS Advanced Firefighter course.

Jean's training strengthens our brigade’s ability to look after our crew on the fireground and during operations — keeping everyone safe so we can continue protecting our community. 🏠🏡🚒

If you’ve ever thought about making a real difference in our community, now is the perfect time to join the Hill End Rural Fire Service Brigade. We welcome new members from all walks of life — no previous experience necessary. We’ll provide the training, support, and camaraderie you need to become a valuable part of the team.

The Return of the Hill End RFS Blitz

Brigade members spent the morning cleaning the old Hill End RFS Brigade, 1942 Blitz truck.

The Hill End Blitz was the brigade's first fire truck and served the Hill End community for many years.

The Blitz was eventually replaced and wound up on a property on the Bridle Track. Some time ago brigade members reaquired the Blitz and spent considerable time and effort to restore the Blitz to as new condition.

Today the Blitz is preserved and protected in the Hill End Heritage Centre.

Thanks to all involved today, especially Digger who gave up part of his birthday to help care for the truck.

Shout Out
A shout out today to two members of the Hill End RFS Brigade who spent the weekend completing their Village Firefighter assessment.

Thanks to both Stewie and Chris for completing the course. Using live-fire equipment alongside members from many other Chifley brigades they engaged car, truck, property and gas cylinder fire-fighting techniques.

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers of the Hill End Rural Fire Brigade.

We are grateful for your service to our community. Whether you're out on the fireground protecting lives and property, or quietly working behind the scenes—maintaining equipment, preparing resources, attending training, or coordinating logistics—your efforts make all the difference.

Every hour you give, visible or unseen, helps keep Hill End and surrounding areas safe.

We also want to recognise and thank the families and partners who stand beside you. Your support, patience, and understanding allow these volunteers to answer the call at any time, day or night. You are the unsung backbone of the Brigade, and your strength and encouragement are truly appreciated.

To all of our nearby volunteer groups including the Sofala SES, Hill End Gathering Group, Common Trust and Art Council, thank you all for your time and efforts in our community.

Upskilling
Over the past month Hill End RFS Brigade members have engaged in more training with other Chifley District RFS members.

Three members took part in the Trim and Cut Felled Trees chainsaw course. These skills assist in accessing properties, clearing trails and bush fire fighting

Big thanks to Jean, Wombat and Stewie for completing this course.

This weekend two Hill End members joined others from across the district in the Village Firefighter course. The course focused on firefighting skills around houses, structures and cars.

Training in these courses will help our brigade members respond to incidents and emergencies when needed.

Next month Hill End RFS members will be engaging in Wildfire Behaviour and Navigation training as a part of the Advanced Firefighter program.
