🍕🎨 Winter School Holidays Program - July 2026 🍕🎨

School holidays are fast approaching, and we have something for everyone to enjoy!

There are activities held in Gulgong, Kandos & Mudgee as well as competitions for youth to enter and mailout kits for those that can't attend one of our events. The line up for Winter includes:

Creature Creations invites young artists to imagine, invent and create their own creature artwork. Design a fantasy beast, recreate your own favourite animal, or pet, or dream up something completely new! Entries can be made in any medium including; drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, photography, digital are, printing making and more.

Final weekend: Tell Your Story is nearly finished! If you haven’t visited yet, drop into MAP before the exhibition closes. It’s a fantastic celebration of young people’s creativity from across the region. So much great work to see. Remember to grab a sticker or poster with the original exhibition artwork by Buddy Smith when you are there.
While you’re at the gallery, you can also check out the new exhibitions: Up the Golden Highway: Chris O'Doherty (AKA Reg Mombassa) and Clarice Beckett: Paintings from the National Collection.

🚒📅Mid-Western Regional Youth Council Meeting 🚒📅

Yesterday afternoon, our Youth Councillors had their quarterly meeting held in the Mudgee Council Chambers. Topics of discussion included:

- Success of Youth Week and Autumn School Holidays
- Ideas to promote recruitment of new Youth Councillors
- Suggestions and ideas for October School Holidays
- Update on new Youth Drop-in Centres to be opened in Gulgong & Kandos

We also had a special guest attend, Captain Mark Collins from Fire + Rescue NSW Mudgee, who came to discuss ideas on how better to engage with youth in the region on fire safety matters and possible campaigns.

Ever thought of joining the Youth Council? Its open to youth aged 13 to 24 years and we're always looking for new members who want to advocate for youth in our region and be part of the activities we run after school, and in school holidays.

The Health Hive, in partnership with the University of Sydney, has launched a free online course for young people aged 14–24: Foundations in Public Health Research and Advocacy for Young People
