🚨 DRIVER RESCUED FOLLOWING ROAD CRASH NEAR NARROMINE 🚨

Emergency services responded to a road crash on Sunday evening after reports that a person was trapped inside a vehicle.

At approximately 7:24pm, VRA Rescue NSW Narromine was activated to the incident, with rescue crews responding to the scene.

On arrival, rescuers confirmed the driver was trapped within the vehicle and immediately commenced rescue operations.

Specialist road crash rescue equipment, including hydraulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life), hydraulic cutters and a come-along winch, was used to gain access to the driver and create a safe extrication pathway.

Following the technical rescue operation, the driver was successfully extricated from the vehicle and handed into the care of NSW Ambulance Paramedics.

The patient was subsequently transported to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

VRA Rescue NSW Narromine would like to acknowledge all emergency services personnel involved in the incident for their teamwork and professionalism.

🚁🌙 FROM DAYLIGHT TO DARK – RPAS TRAINING 🌙🚁

While most people were thinking about calling it a day, our VRA Rescue NSW Narromine RPAS Pilot was just getting started!

Today saw our pilot out conducting day and night RPAS flight training, keeping skills sharp and maintaining operational readiness for when our aerial capability is needed.

Operating an RPAS during rescue and search operations takes more than just putting a drone in the air. Regular training helps maintain aircraft control, situational awareness, search techniques and the ability to operate safely across changing conditions — particularly when daylight disappears.

Our RPAS capability can provide crews on the ground with an important eye in the sky, assisting with searches, reconnaissance and gathering valuable information from areas that may be difficult to access.

Apparently, the drone got plenty of flight time today… and the pilot got plenty of practice looking at the sky. 😂

Day or night, we train so we’re ready when the call comes.

🚨 🚨💚 A BUSY WEEK FOR VRA RESCUE NSW NARROMINE! 💚🚨

It’s certainly been a busy week for our VRA Rescue NSW Narromine members, with the team out and about across the region supporting training, education, emergency service exercises and community events.

🏫 Wednesday saw members at Delroy High School supporting the School Cadets Program, working alongside our emergency service partners and giving students some hands-on experience in rescue skills.

🚨 After a full day with the cadets, members still managed to back it up for our regular Wednesday night training — because apparently one training session in a day just wasn’t enough! 😂

🏫 Friday we were back into the School Cadets Program, this time at Burrabadine High School, continuing to help develop the next generation’s teamwork, confidence and emergency response skills.

🚑✈️ Saturday saw members participate in the RFDS Mass Casualty Exercise, working alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics, RFDS doctors and flight nurses in a realistic multi-agency scenario.

There was plenty of serious training and teamwork throughout the exercise… although we even managed to get the doctors practising their best calendar poses! 📸😂 We’re not sure when the “Doctors of the RFDS 2027 Calendar” is being released, but judging by the enthusiasm, pre-orders could open soon! 😂

🏎️ And somewhere amongst all of that, our members also found time to attend both days of the Gold Cup Go Kart Finals — proving once again that Team Green can be just about everywhere at once!

A massive THANK YOU to every one of our members who gave up their time throughout the week. Your commitment, professionalism and willingness to keep turning up is what makes weeks like this possible.

We’d also like to thank NSW Ambulance, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, NSW RFS, our participating schools and all our emergency service and community partners for the teamwork, laughs and opportunities to train together.

It was a huge week — and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

🥶🧗 TONIGHT’S TRAINING – HEIGHTS, DEPTHS & MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE 🚨💚

Tonight, members from VRA Rescue NSW Narromine braved the winter chill and headed to the steep banks of the Macquarie River for another hands-on training session.

Members practised belaying from heights and depths, along with setting up and operating different mechanical advantage systems to safely raise and lower loads over steep terrain.

The session reinforced the importance of correct system setup, equipment selection, communication, teamwork and maintaining safety throughout vertical rescue operations.

The steep banks of the Macquarie provided the perfect training ground — Mother Nature supplied the cold, and thankfully mechanical advantage meant our members didn’t have to supply all the muscle! 🥶😂💪

Another valuable night keeping our rescue skills sharp and our team operationally ready.

🚨 SCHOOL CADETS PUT THEIR RESCUE SKILLS TO THE TEST!

Today saw members from VRA Rescue NSW Narromine at Delroy High School in Dubbo, working alongside our colleagues from the NSW Rural Fire Service as part of the School Cadets Program.

The cadets were put through their paces with a Road Crash Rescue scenario, giving them the opportunity to experience firsthand the teamwork, communication and practical skills involved in responding to a motor vehicle accident.

Working together, the cadets successfully completed the scenario with a textbook extrication of Reggie the Rescue Dummy. 👏🚗🛠️

Reggie remained calm throughout the entire rescue, followed every instruction and, thankfully, had no complaints about the standard of care. 😂

Programs like this provide a fantastic opportunity for young people to work alongside emergency service personnel, develop practical skills, build confidence and learn the importance of teamwork, leadership and safety.

A huge well done to all the cadets at Delroy High School for getting involved and giving the scenario their best, and a big thank you to the NSW RFS members for working alongside us to deliver a great hands-on experience.

🚨 TONIGHT’S TRAINING – INDUSTRIAL & DOMESTIC RESCUE (IDR) 🚨

Tonight saw trainers from VRA Rescue NSW Narromine make the trip to Parkes to put our Parkes members through their paces with some hands-on Industrial & Domestic Rescue (IDR) training.

Members worked with Dremels, ring cutters and other specialised rescue tools, practising the precision, patience and safe techniques required when dealing with those smaller and sometimes trickier rescue scenarios.

IDR incidents can present some unusual challenges, so maintaining confidence with a wide range of equipment is essential to ensuring our crews are ready when called upon.

A big thank you to our Narromine trainers for making the trip and sharing their knowledge with the Parkes crew.

And of course, everyone was reminded that ring cutters are for training scenarios — not for finding out whose wedding ring has been stuck the longest! 😂💍

Another great night of teamwork, learning and plenty of hands-on practice.

🥶🚨 TONIGHT’S TRAINING – VEHICLE STABILISATION 🚨🥶

It was another cracking winter training night… and by cracking, we mean you could nearly hear our members’ fingers snapping off in the cold. 🥶😂

But a little frost wasn’t going to stop the team from getting stuck into some essential vehicle stabilisation training.

Tonight, members worked through a range of scenarios with vehicles on their wheels, on their side and on their roof, using different rescue stabilisation equipment and techniques to make each scenario safe and secure.

Vehicle stabilisation is a critical part of road crash rescue. Before rescue and extrication operations can begin, we need to ensure the vehicle isn’t going anywhere it shouldn’t. Every incident is different, so knowing how to assess, adapt and select the right equipment is an important part of keeping both our crews and patients safe. 🚗🛠️

The vehicles ended the night properly stabilised…

The members? Cold, questionable and in desperate need of a heater. 🥶😂

But that’s training — rain, hail, shine or temperatures better suited to penguins, we keep building the skills needed to be ready when our community calls. 💪💚

❄️ Training doesn’t stop when the temperature drops! 💪🚨

Tonight, our Parkes members rugged up and braved the winter chill to sharpen their skills using holdfast pickets and Tirfor winches. These are essential rescue techniques that require teamwork, precision, and regular practice to ensure we’re ready when our community needs us most.

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out on a freezing evening and put in the hard work. Your dedication to maintaining these critical rescue skills is what keeps our team operationally ready.

Of course, no training night would be complete without our four-legged supervisor, Gazza the Greyhound, who was rugged up against the cold and made sure everyone was doing the job properly. We suspect he was mainly conducting quality control… and checking for snack breaks! 🐾🦴

The only thing colder than the weather tonight was the steel we were working with—but thankfully our members generated enough teamwork to keep everything moving! 🥶🔧

❄️ Cold weather? No worries for Team Green! 🧗‍♂️💚

Tonight, members from VRA Rescue NSW Narromine braved the winter chill to sharpen their vertical rescue skills, continuing to build the knowledge, confidence and capability needed to respond when our community needs us most.

From rope systems and anchors to safe movement at height, every skill practiced tonight helps ensure we’re ready for the challenges of tomorrow. Training doesn’t stop just because the temperature drops!

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out and gave it their all. Your dedication and commitment to maintaining a high standard of rescue capability is what makes our team stronger.

Now, the only thing hanging lower than our ropes was the temperature! 🥶😂

☀️ The sun is out… and so are our members! 🏁

Our VRA Rescue NSW Narromine members are on-site today at Lincoln County Raceway, providing medical standby to help keep competitors, officials and spectators safe throughout the day’s racing.

While everyone’s focused on chasing the chequered flag, our crew will be hoping for the quietest day possible—but we’re ready to respond if needed.

Start your engines, race hard, race fair, and most importantly, race safe! 🏎️💨

Best of luck to all the competitors, and enjoy a fantastic day at the track!
