๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ Celebrating NAIDOC Week in Rockhampton โ€“ 50 Years of Deadly โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค
Today, the AnglicareCQ Rockhampton team proudly joined the local community for the ROCK NAIDOC March and Fair Day, celebrating this year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly."
The theme recognises five decades of NAIDOC celebrating the strength, resilience, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It honours the Elders, community leaders, artists, advocates and generations who have helped shape the movement and continue to inspire future generations.
The atmosphere throughout the day was uplifting and full of energy, with a large crowd marching together across the river and into the cricket grounds for the Fair Day celebrations. It was incredible to see so many people come together to celebrate culture, community and connection.
A moving Smoking Ceremony and dancers helped welcome attendees, while the wisdom shared by Darumbal Elders provided an opportunity for reflection and learning. Their messages reminded us of the importance of culture, Country, truth-telling and the ongoing journey towards understanding and reconciliation.
As we celebrate 50 Years of Deadly, we acknowledge the stories, leadership and achievements that have brought us to this moment, while looking forward to a future where culture continues to lead and communities continue to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who made today such a memorable and meaningful celebration.

๐ŸŒฟ NAIDOC Week 2026 | 50 Years of Deadly ๐ŸŒฟ

This NAIDOC Week, AnglicareCQ proudly celebrates 50 Years of Deadly - a significant milestone recognising five decades of NAIDOC Week and the strength, culture, leadership and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2026 theme honours the Elders, advocates, artists, organisers and communities who have kept culture strong, stories alive and voices heard across generations. It is a celebration of resilience, pride, truth-telling and the enduring contributions of First Nations peoples to communities across Australia.

At AnglicareCQ, we recognise that "deadly" means something to be proud of, something strong, excellent and inspiring. This week, we celebrate the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the achievements of the past 50 years and the next generation of leaders who continue to shape the future.

AnglicareCQ looks forward to being involved in local NAIDOC Week activities and events across Central Queensland over the coming weeks, celebrating alongside our communities and recognising the culture, knowledge and leadership of First Nations peoples.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ Happy NAIDOC Week 2026๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ
