Bulga 1 with Pez and Tash responded to a grass fire at Garland Valley this afternoon. The warm weather still and strong winds this afternoon pushed this up quite quickly resulting in multiple appliances from Broke Rural Fire Brigade, Whittingham Rural Fire Brigade, Howes Valley, Belford, Putty and even Colo Heights responding.

Crews put in back burns over the afternoon and into the evening and will be back out again tomorrow along with Air crews to continue slow and contain the fire.

Bulga 7 went to training with Whittingham Rural Fire Brigade and Deputy Group 4 Kylie Ledger this afternoon. Patrolling a grass fire from earlier in the afternoon. Bulga 7 returned and blacked out some smouldering grass later in the evening. Always a great time working and training with the Whittingham crew. Thanks once again for having us.

Bulga attended a call-out to singleton tip this evening in the Cat 1 providing assistance to Darlington Rural Fire Brigade, Glennies Creek Rural Fire Brigade, Edinglassie Rural Fire Brigade, Bulk water Alpha and Bulk water Bravo.

Crews on the ground used foam to smother and contain the blaze leaving a thick layer of foam to reduce the risk of re-ignition.

A reminder to dispose of batteries and e-cigarettes in battery drop off points and not in your general waste

Had a fantastic sunday morning with Whittingham Rural Fire Brigade and Mirannie Rural Fire Service Brigade and Deputy Group 4 Kylie Ledger at Hunter Valley Fire Control.

We practiced branch techniques and flame management using the gas fire prop and practicing how different spray patterns can be used to capture, manage and extinguish fires,as well as how these techniques can be used in a bushfire setting.

Thanks Nutta for the fun relay Challenge nothing like healthy competition

Whilst it was training and fun! It was also a great opportunity to show our junior firefighters as well as possible new recruits the training and tools we undertake and use as well as sharing knowledge of many years experience from our captains and senior firefighters

These training exercises help refresh or learn new skills as well as fine tune them so we can react quicker and autonomously whilst out on a fire ground reducing accidents and harm to ourselves and those around us whilst also effectively managing the fire and surrounds we find ourselves In
