💧 Water restrictions to be lifted across Tasmania tonight
Great news for communities across the state - water restrictions will be lifted at midnight tonight following recent welcome rainfall.

The rain has helped restore river flows and dam levels, allowing most supply systems to recover after last week’s heavy weather.

✅ Restrictions lifting in:
• Orford and Triabunna
• Oatlands
• Scamander
• Whitemark

⚠️ Lady Barron (Flinders Island) will remain on Stage 1 restrictions while local conditions continue to be monitored. While this is positive news, we’re encouraging everyone to continue using water wisely. With the potential for drier conditions ahead, every drop still counts.

💡 Simple actions at home and work can make a big difference.

Mission Australia worked collaboratively with their tenants across our municipality to create a beautiful book showcasing our stunning East Coast and sharing why they love living here and who wouldn’t!

The project gave participants the opportunity to create a keepsake they can proudly display on their own coffee table or share with friends and family.

The launch of the book was held on Thursday 28th May 2026 at the Triabunna Hall and Swansea Courthouse, and Council were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the incredible stories and images brought together through this project.

Good news on the way for Tassie 💧🌧️
Water restrictions are expected to be lifted across most of Tasmania next week following recent rainfall.

The rain has brought much-needed relief to catchments that have been under pressure during an extended dry period, with conditions now looking very positive in most areas.

Before any changes are confirmed, our teams are continuing to carefully assess water storages, river flows and water quality to make sure systems have fully recovered.

We know restrictions have been tough, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who reduced their water use - your efforts have made a real difference 👏

In the meantime, we’re asking communities to hang tight just a little longer while we complete final checks over the coming days.

Where we expect restrictions to lift:
✅ Orford and Triabunna
✅ Oatlands
✅ Scamander
✅ Whitemark
🔸 Lady Barron is expected to remain on Stage 1 a little longer while we continue monitoring local conditions. Please keep using water wisely while assessments continue.
