This one feels particularly special to us.

When we started Songlines ACE, we wanted to create resources that did more than simply look cultural.

We wanted children to touch, create, explore, ask questions and connect, while giving educators meaningful ways to bring culture into everyday learning.

Our Aboriginal Weaving & Threading Set grew from that purpose.

Featuring a dilly bag, woven mat and fish trap, each piece opens opportunities to explore Aboriginal weaving, connection to Country and the knowledge and skills passed through generations.

And while little hands weave and thread, they're also building fine motor skills, concentration, coordination and persistence.

For us, this is what embedding culture can look like.

Not a one-off activity.
Not something saved for a significant week.

But culture, curiosity and conversation woven into everyday learning and play.

Tools that carry knowledge, ingenuity and connection to Country.

Our Traditional Tools Eco-Imprint Cutter Collection invites children to explore the tools and artefacts Aboriginal peoples have created and used across generations, through hands-on, open-ended play.

From gathering and carrying to fishing, hunting and everyday life, each design can become the beginning of a conversation:

💬 What might this have been used for?
🌿 What materials could it have been made from?
💧 How might tools differ depending on Country and available resources?
👐 What skills and knowledge were needed to make and use them?

Press them into playdough or clay, add them to a sensory or small-world invitation, use them alongside natural materials, incorporate them into storytelling, or pair them with images and books for further investigation.

As children press, create and explore, they're also developing fine motor skills, language, curiosity, problem-solving and imaginative thinking.

Most importantly, these resources provide another opportunity to show children that Aboriginal cultures are rich in knowledge, innovation, design and sophisticated understandings of Country, knowledge that continues today.

Wednesday 2 September is Indigenous Literacy Day.

This year's theme, "Country Is Our Teacher," is a reminder that some of the richest lessons happen outside the pages of a book.

A few ways to bring it into your classroom this week:
📍 Find out whose Country your school is on and share the local place names with your students
📖 Read and explore a story from your local area
🌿 Take literacy outside with a Country walk and reflection journal
🎵 Learn the Busking for Change song in language
🎨 Turn student reflections into local-Country-inspired art

Yes, with the right resources, the right attribution, and a genuine willingness to keep learning. You don't need to be perfect. You need to be respectful, prepared, and open to correction.
