🔥 Friendly Reminder – Planning to Burn? Notify Before You Light! 🔥
With cooler weather and property clean-ups underway across the Coffs Coast, this is a friendly reminder that even outside the Bush Fire Danger Period, you must notify before conducting a pile burn on your property (where the NSW Rural Fire Service is the responsible authority).
Before you light your fire, remember to:
✅ Notify the NSW Rural Fire Service online.
✅ Notify your neighbours at least 24 hours before you burn.
✅ Clear a mineral earth break around your pile.
✅ Keep your pile manageable and never leave it unattended.
✅ Only burn when weather conditions are suitable.
Burn notifications help prevent unnecessary emergency call-outs and ensure firefighters know the difference between a planned burn and an unplanned fire.
⚠️ Failure to notify may result in a caution letter or penalty where appropriate, particularly if your burn results in unnecessary emergency responses or creates a safety risk.
